I wish this book was around when I was trying to figure out my next plan after high school! Josh really uncovers the benefits of all angles, but specifically the trades. So many kids are told to "go to college and figure out what you want to major in when you get there" but realistically this is terrible advice. The student loan crisis is already terrible, so to have another option in the trades is amazing. Before you make a decision about what college to go to, or what to do "when you grow up," take a look at this book.
Tell us how you really feel! This is a down to earth, easy, enlightening read. It opened my eyes to the profitability and possibly behind technical trade knowledge. Made me wish I had followed my heart in high school when I wanted to go to a technical school but instead was “guided” by my school counselor towards college. Still working on that degree since ‘06. I wish I would’ve had a book like this in high school because the author, Josh, speaks so many truths about college and white collar jobs. I appreciate the authors sincerity when offering personal experiences through the genuine voice in his writing. The tools and resources offered in this book can be helpful for life in general and readers of all ages. It encourages you to be true to yourself and reminds you life is short so make the best of it while you can.
I grabbed my digital copy last week, this book should be in every guidance counselors office and with every parent who’s young child isn’t sure where they fit in pertaining to life after high school. I was the same way during high school and I wish I had this book in 11th grade. My neighbor was a union steam fitter and he noticed I had a mechanical mind and could build and fix pretty much anything with my hands, it was because of him I started in the HVAC world and have had a very successful career of the last 30 years. This book is a must have!
Josh proves that finding a love for what you do leads to success He digs deep into skilled trades and exposes information that most folks don’t understand I have it posted as a summer read for our staff, students and parents.
What you don't know will hurt you! This book is very informative. I work weekly with youth and this is the information they need. There are many routes to success and this book will inspire and motivate readers to step outside the box.
This book should be stocked in every high school counselor's library as listed as required reading. Not just for the high school aged though, as this book kinda makes me want to pick up a hammer or a wrench and get to work. And I'm 46. If you any any interest in this line of work, this book is a must read.
A outstanding book! Josh tackles a topic that no one has ever really taking the time to express. The book is fantastic! An absolute must read for high school kids and parents alike. Everyone getting ready for college trying to make decisions about their future would be will served to read this book!! 10 stars!
