It seems like I’m always training for something and I make protein shakes all the time. I have 2 different go to brands since they are easy to find at my local grocery store and chocolate is my favorite flavor, since I sometimes use it in baking too.
Overall this mixed well in water, almond milk and milk when I used a blender bottle or my ninja when making a smoothie. It tends to clump if you try and just mix it with a spoon.
Taste wise it is okay 3.5 stars. The chocolate taste is at a good level, not overpowering but there. The other brands I use are sweetened with Sucrose and this uses stevia. When I blended just the protein power in liquid the stevia had an aftertaste that I could definitely pick out and I didn’t like it as much. I’ve also used in smoothies though with peanut butter powder and a banana and then I didn’t really notice an aftertaste.
I like that there are 26g of protein per scoop with only 120 calories. I’m always trying to pack more protein into my diet and since I count calories currently it isn’t such a big hit to my calorie budget per day. I don’t think that I’d use this as a meal replacement though due to the lower calorie content. It also doesn’t seem to puff up as much as some of my other protein powders so I didn’t necessarily feel full after drinking it. Better for before my workout than as recovery due to this.
The size of the container is close to 15 oz, that is about half the size of other protein powder supplements I normally purchase come in closer to 30 oz for about the same price. The manufacture says this is free from fat, lactose, gluten, aspartame, soy, corn and is also a non-GMO formula, the other products I use do not make any of those claims and so the higher price point may be warranted.
I drink all sorts of protein powders, and there seems to be a wide range of tastes. This one is very palatable, with a vague aftertaste- not bad or harsh, just that protein powder taste. It has a lightly sweet (from Stevia and monk fruit), mildly chocolate flavor. I would add a scoop of non sweetened cocoa powder if you want a more defined chocolate taste.
Easy to consume on its own with a little bit of liquid. I normally use a non dairy milk. I have been preparing this by just adding a scoop into a shaker cup, adding milk and ice, then shaking until mixed. And it mixes well. I normally use vanilla flavors for smoothies, but with this being such a light chocolate flavor, I think it would mix well with other flavors. It is pretty much just a protein powder, as described. Low fat, low cholesterol, low calorie, high protein (26g), extremely low sugar (<1g). 190 mg of Sodium per serving. This is about the mid range for many protein powders. I rarely see sodium much below 100 mg, and I have seen levels as high as 300mg per serving.
There are 12 servings per container. At current price of 25.99, that makes it $2.16 per serving. There too, about average (maybe a little less). Appears to have a coupon, as well as a promo discount for purchases Of any Nova Lucia products above 1. Considering that this bottle will not last two weeks if using daily, it will help drive the price down to purchase more at once.
4 stars- no complaints on overall taste, texture, or quality- but it is such a light chocolate flavor, that I will need to add cocoa powder to make it really taste chocolaty. I could do the same with just buying unflavored protein powder and adding my own chocolate powder. However, this may not be of a concern to you, and the light chocolate taste may be just right. I don't think you can go wrong with this product. Also, it doesn't say how much sunflower lecithin is provided. The product description is quick to point out that it contains sunflower lecithin, but does not say what dosage is per serving. If it did, it could be a solid selling point, without saying so, it mind as well be zero.
I hope my review helped you today. If I learn anything new, I will be back to update. Take care :)
This protein powder has a nice chocolate flavor, and mixes well. I do find you have to drink it quickly or it settles on the top, like most protein shakes. I usually make the powder with water and ice, blended, like a milkshake.
Make note that this is specifically used in addition to your daily diet, and is not supposed to be used as a meal replacement protein shake. If you prefer a protein shake that can be used for post-workout and as a meal replacement, this is not for you.
My only complaint with this protein powder is there isn’t very many servings in one jar. There’s maybe 12 servings in one jar, so if you were to drink this daily after a workout, you’d need to restock sooner than two weeks. I’m used to having powders supply last nearly a month. That seems a little inconvenient to me, which is why I took a star away.
We like this chocolate flavor whey powder. It has a great flavor and no after taste. We like that is is made with natural flavors. My wife says she is full for hours after a glass of this. I wish I could say the same! But even for me, it takes the edge off.
On the downside, like many whey powders it doesn't dissolve all that great - a lot of work and very difficult with just a spoon. I found a fork works slightly better, but the difference is marginal.
My wife likes this more than me, but says that stevia bothers her stomach. It doesn't bother me, but if you are someone who develops mild GI issues from stevia, be warned.
This is not bad, by any means. I made a quick shake with ice and almond milk, and it tasted fine. It isn't too strong, so next time I may use a full scoop to get more flavor. I thought I wouldn't need all of that, because the scoop was so deep, but I was wrong. The flavor seems pretty good from what I could tell. It's not gonna taste like a frosty or anything, but it's not bad.
I like the flavor for the most part, although it is just a bit sweeter than I would have preferred. It mixes easily though, and that is a huge bonus. In the same vein, I was stoked to find a chocolate protein powder without sugar or sucralose. This product uses stevia leaf and that is my preference.
The NovaPro Whey Isolate Protein Powder Chocolate Meal Replacement is here on my desk for review. I poured 12 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk into my shaker container and then added one scoop of the protein powder into the liquid. I then mixed the powder and almond milk in my soda fountain shaker for about a minute. When the powder and milk were thoroughly mixed, I poured the liquid into my mug, which I have here on my desk.
This NovaPro beverage has a light milk chocolate flavor with a hint of sweetness in it. It is creamy and soft on the palate. It does not taste like a soda fountain shake, but we know that it is health food and we don’t have false expectations. As my son-in-law is fond of telling me, “It is what it is!”
The ingredients in the powder are fairly simple: Whey Protein Isolate, Cocoa Powder, Natural Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Monk Fruit (Siraitia grosvenorii), Salt, Stevia Leaf Extract (Rebaudioside A) and Sunflower Lecithin. I find nothing objectionable in this list. One serving of this beverage contain 26 grams of protein – 52% of our daily requirement. That’s a bit more protein than we usually find in drinks of this kind.
Bottom line: For those readers who want to add a significant amount of protein to their diet, this NovaPro Chocolate Whey Protein may be just what they are looking for. The taste, while not great, is perfectly acceptable. Recommended.
Since starting a ketogenic diet, I've started most of my days with bullet coffee and a protein shake. I have a rotation of a few different brands and flavors and this powder is just as good (macro and flavor-wise) as the others. I'm pretty used to the taste of stevia so it's definitely sweet enough for me and I don't notice an aftertaste. If this is your first protein powder, you may think it tastes chalky or musty but, well, it's protein powder and not a milkshake. The carb, protein and fat macros are exactly what I want and on any particular day I can always add some frozen berries or nut butter if I want a different flavor or need more fat or carbs.
I have absolutely no affiliation with them but there's a great recipe for protein cakes using whey isolate protein powder on Keto Connect's website. It's a good way to use this if you really can't stand the flavor but want a way to work it into your diet.
Way to go, hehe. Didn't purchase for weight loss, but to add more protein to daily dietary intake. First impression, adding this product to almond/cashew milk (creamy), is very positive. A bit sweet, as others have noted. Second preparation included addition of cocoa powder (to increase chocolate flavor and accompanying nutrients), banana, chia seeds, ground flaxseed with blueberries added to the finished mixed smoothie. Verdict? Excellent. So, this product is very good and tasty on it's own merits. Further, as excellent base for making nutritious desert drink/smoothie. Considering purchasing the vanilla and strawberry versions of this product, which is good indication of my recommendation. Very good product, can highly recommend.
