I had heard of Louis L'Amour growing up. I saw that adults were reading it when I was a kid. I am a big fan of Westerns, most any western, and I've been reading more and more the older I get. I'd been giving some thought to a new author and I've never read any western stories, so I remembered Louis L'Amour. I decided to give him a chance, but there was only one problem, "What novel to choose, there are so many?" I red through different synopses of his books. I read that there are apparently different series of novels such as the "Sacketts" and "Chandry." However, I was looking for a good stand alone book to get my feet wet. So the one that caught me was "Fallon." I will say this, It was the right choice. I have purchased 5 more L'Amour books, and I plan to continue getting more. Fallon was the book that got me hooked. As for my perspective, his writing style feels smooth. He give the reader just the right amount of detail to help you visualize the setting and people. Unlike some authors that use about 1/3 of their book just in detail. He knew how to blend description of environment with the action and humanity of the characters. If you are reading my review here, then you have probably already read others, and probably the write up to see if its a story you want to read. Of the story I will tel you this, Its about a man who wants to swindle people for a big score, and take off. He's good at it, and knows the ins and outs. However, at the core, he is an honorable man, and in this book, he learns a lot about people, himself, and what he wants. My advice, "BUY IT and READ IT!" You won't be sorry.
