Paranormal Tales with Normal Resolutions -- and Laughs
Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2020
I've picked up a lot of urban fantasy mystery tales that claim to be funny and, quite frankly, aren't, but the tales of the Blue Moon Agency ARE funny -- at least those with Tempest Michaels, the agency's founder. I confess, I didn't read the separate story with Amanda, but that's because, as a secondary character in the first stories, she didn't come across as someone I'd want to hang out with. Tempest is the character I wanted to spend my time with. It's only because there was a separate story with Amanda as the lead in this boxed collection that I didn't give it a full 5* -- and if all the stories had been Tempest Michael ones, it would have gotten a 5*. I liked the idea of a paranormal investigator who didn't believe in the paranormal and always proved that his solution was indeed right. Immediately bought the next box set, even though there were Amanda lead tales in it, but that still gives me 3 with Mr. Michaels. Definitely will be snagging future Blue Moon cases with Tempest and his friends because they made me laugh aloud more than once.
