This worked really well to keep up the charge on my Prius car battery. They are a lighter-duty car battery, but prone to draining when not used, so this worked to keep the battery charged when parked for a few days. It even withstood persistent Seattle area rain on the roof of the car - just making sure to keep the connectors out of the rain by leaving the hood ajar.
Please rest assured that I am slow to penalize for broken English. I have seen MANY such owner manuals with spelling and grammar errors - no big deal. The manual for this device was absolutely terrible - almost useless. When I used the contact information provided to clearly ask for clarification on how the power light works, the responder answered a different question (barely), and not the one I asked. So don't buy from these people unless you already have some basic electrical experience.
A few things absent or unreadable from the manual that I had to figure out for myself:
- Connecting the red clamp to the positive battery terminal, and the black clamp to a ground on the vehicle (like a bolt attached to the auto body), is safer than attaching the black clamp to the negative terminal. Most car manufacturers will recommend this, including for my older Prius.
- The light on mine turns orange when it's getting enough sunlight to produce a charge. Connect it to a battery needing a charge and it turns green. If the battery is full and the sun is still out, it turns orange again to prevent an overcharge. That light goes dark when the sun goes down.
