When will I ever learn ? I started this book around 00:30 (ie. 12:30 a.m) - when it was 05:30 (still a.m.) I was finished and had a whopping 2 hours before having to get up for work...that was a looong day, but it was worth it ! The book, the characters, the enormous differences between being close to Pyre and being on the other side of the portal...
The challenges are so different and yet so big on both occasions. There are losses (sad ones !) in this book, there are also some deaths that I must say made me more than happy. Yes, it was one of the most evil and treacherous downsiders that got their comeuppance, and in such a sweet-sweet way as well - even if it's "just" a written character and it's supposed to be bad to cheer when someone dies...let's face it. Some deaths just makes society better - and this most definitely did !
And the idea that The Silver Ships and this excellent series will join forces - I must admit it's difficult not to write Mr. Jucha on a daily basis pestering him to git'r'done - but of course that'd just take away his precious time for writing this excellent saga so instead I'm left waiting. And waiting.
Thank you Mr. Jucha for this excellent and uplifting world you've created, I'm very grateful you've shared it with us readers ! Hoping for many-many more stories and books to come !
Clean imaginative writing. Fabulous familiar characters and wonderful world building. I have thoroughly enjoyed this exploration of the building of Pyre and the association with all their allied aliens. The empaths characters continue to bring healing intelligence and progress to the galaxy. So happy that the government has been resolved so that all concerned can focus on the terrifying potential of the Colony. I so look forward to whatever the next steps bring and an awakening of the minds of the Tsargit. Arrogance is always a downfall. I am a very avid fan!!!
I just love this series! I love all the characters and it has a gripping story line that you can't let go of. I am saddened that the series is over. Start with Book 1 in order to really appreciate the story line. I am looking forward to how the author weaves the decendants of the main characters into his other long running series (new book not out yet), which jumps ahead about 400 years. I am totally entrenched in that long running series (Silver ships), I just finished book 11 or was it 12, LOL. Just checked, I just finished book 13!
I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed the entire series. Even though I felt the end was completely rushed out.where at lot of time was spent on other details. I wonder will the Colony ever have the chance to explain the reasons for the fast expansion?
I am a great fan and I have been anxious for this book to come out but then again I am always waiting for Scott’s next book to come out. Veklocks was not the exception, the story is engaging and fast paced and he set the stage for joining of both storylines with The Silver Ships. There is something for everyone to latch on to in the book and there is always something unexpected that will leave you guessing as to what will happen in the next book. If you have not read the Silver Ships Series, I highly recommend you do. It is fun, entertaining, extremely addictive and it ties right in with the Pyreans storyline.
Why the rating, if you read the book you should know, it's well deserved. Every page makes you hunger for the next. Having read Silver Ships first I thought I would be let down, no way. I swear if author could write one a day, I would never sleep, I eat while I read. These books are good for 13 to 100, very few can read after that.
The fast paced story pulls the threads of the previous stories together. We see how they deal with the Tsargit finally to get what the emerging colony needs. Truly a riveting tale. If you are a fan of this series and if if you aren't you will enjoy this book. The last pages sets the stage for the next book I cannot wait.
Veklocks A really good book but towards the end it is getting a little too political for me.Still I found that most of the book was very interesting. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I also hope the next book in the Silver Ship series is available soon..
I started reading the Silver Ships series and loved the characters and world they created. This series has characters that are equally complex and different and approach the same universe from different angles. The two series should merge well after this.
The Pyrean explorers continue to find the extent of the Colony incursion through the domes. A visit to the Alliance to see how dis-functional the old guard is. Lots more to follow. There are a lot of ways the series could go from here. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
