Black hole surfing?
Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2019
I suppose this book is more aimed at the young adolescent reader. The story of 4 youngsters galavanting across the galaxy has some appeal. This book does not propose to put forth any hard science. In fact the science in “science fiction” in this book is just used as a simple background for the plot.
But there has to be a line drawn in the sand where the “science” in this book becomes a farce. And that line was crossed when the “heros” went Black Hole surfing, and came out the other side in one piece. This was just ridiculous.
Then there is this problem where the heros get hurt but they never seem to have medical supplies on the ship. They have money to buy beer, supplies, new engines and armaments, but not a single one of
them thinks about medical supplies. At the end Ben’s arm gets miraculously healed just by Magnum cutting it up.
This book also seriously needs an editor or a third party to read it before being published.
