To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I am of course a Lee Child fan, and have even bought some of his other short stories, but this was a complete rip off at $1.99. It does not even rise to the level of a short story, and would really not be worth it even at $.99. Shame on you all to treat fans this way.
Fabulous!! Brilliant. Another look into an aspect of Reacher's Way of life ; but also how an interesting new character was helped, despite the fact you don't realize how untill the last sentence or two. A definite page turner!
It took a while before I understood what was really going on, but once I got it, this wound up being a great story. The problem is, it just wasn't long enough. I hope this character becomes as great as Jack is. I think I will like him too.
Again - love the author, the James Penny character (what little you learn of him), and the "prequel" nature of this for Jack Reacher fans. But it is less than a short story - just maybe 1/2 hour, and then it's gone. This story should have been included in an anthology or perhaps as a "bonus" with a real novel or book of short stories. It seems to be another attempt by the author, likely misled by his publisher or agent, to try and extent his capitalization of the fabulous thrillers that made him famous. Me - I will think twice about spending even $1.99 on another 1/2 effort. Any I will make sure that future novels are actually novels and not medium-length stories. Mr. Child - suggest that you don't try and milk the good will of your loyal fan-base with this type of ploy - or they will not be so loyal for long.
