How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

what a surprise for my 2nd grade class this morning-there's a NEW BOOK in their favorite series! They LOVED the first two chapters. There's always been a progression in Wayside School-from single stories in book 1 to long story arcs in book 3. The latest book seems to be a proper novel, which is great, because the length and intricacy of the story and character arcs has grown with the kids' increasing reading skills. It has a different feel from book 3 (just as book 3 was more plot-driven and less laugh-out-loud funny than book 2), but enough callbacks and classic Wayside School bits to satisfy the old-school fan. I can't comment on the middle and end just yet, because I promised the kids not to read ahead, but it's great so far!

update: my kids loved all of the references and callbacks to old stories (hint: there's a theme of 'opposite' that runs through the whole book!)
I also love that new illustrator Tim Heitz made the cast of students much more diverse! I'm going to get new copies of books 1-3 as well.
i started a youtube channel to read it to them during the SIP lockdown and they're still loving it! last chapter tomorrow...

This is a lighthearted book for kids. Sometimes the things adults do make no sense to them so this book exaggerates that with funny and odd incidents.

Elementary school children will latch right on to the book’s small absurdities. There’s a thirty-floor school, one classroom to a floor (except for one floor that doesn’t exist), along with a locked closet of precious paper clips. A misguided principal and a mixed-up hypnotist help make this story a child’s good friend. Plus, the real-life author actually holds down a job in the book.

Adult readers accustomed to dealing with larger absurdities of their own, will admire the writer’s skill in preparing latent grownups for what’s ahead.

What you have here is just the right combination for shared read-out-loud sessions, with enough laughter for young and old if for different reasons. Nicely done.

"Friends stick by each other when one is down. That is a true test of friendship. But sometimes, it is harder to stick by a friend who is up. That is the ultimate test of friendship."

Returning to Wayside School was a lot of fun honestly. I loved these books as a kid so I was pretty excited to hear that Louis Sachar was writing a new one all these years later. Wayside School Beneath The Cloud Of Doom is published 40 years after the first Wayside School book, and it's just as silly as the first three were. Even though I'm an adult now (sort of), I chuckled out loud numerous times reading this book. It brought me right back to my youth. Very nostalgic. I was sad when it was over. If you enjoyed these books when you were younger, I definitely recommend checking out this newly released addition to the series.

I loved these books when I was growing up, and now I'm reading them to my kids. These are the all time most engaging, fun and funny stories for kids to hear. This book literally picks back up where the others left off. I was struggling to find something as fun as Wayside when we completed them all, so I'm glad that this came out.

Glad someone finally convinced Louis to write another one, hopefully there will be more. Kids reading it won't know that a long time passed between books, all the characters are the same and the stories are just as funny to kids and parents. Mr. Kidswatter is the best principal!

It was an absolute delight to stumble upon book four in the Wayside School series. These books are great way to engage the child that does not like to read chapter books. Each chapter is funny and short and can stand alone as its own independent story. The book can be read from cover to cover or just one random chapter at a time. My 10 year old loves this book series and he generally shuns fiction.

My 10 year old LOVES the entire Wayside School series and he asked for this one as well. He said he’s enjoying reading it. He started reading Wayside School books in 4th grade in the classroom and then re read them numerous times. I read the first one with him and it is indeed very funny.

I found the original Wayside School book at a yard sale and picked it up for my 8 year old. He loved that one so much, I bought the other 2 books immediately and then saw that there was a new book coming, 25 years after the first books. The Cloud of Doom is a good book, my son really enjoyed it, and the Wayside books are on the list of books that he reads over and over again.

Book arrived yesterday .The Wayside School books were my favorite ones to read to my 2/3 graders because they seemed to love them as much as I did. I enjoyed this book but was wishing I had my "babies" from 20+ years ago to share the joy with me ...maybe with a bowl of Rainbow Stew.

My favorite books as a kid in the 80’s are still delightful for today’s youth! I read Book 1 to my sister’s kids, and they loved the silly stories the same as I did at their age. Now there’s a FOURTH book, and it’s written for THEM! It acknowledges that Something Terrifying is going on I’m the world, and urges young hearts and minds to focus on friendship, bravery, and empathy.
