Oh my goodness; this completely exceeded our expectations!! We were at the end of our rope with household odor because of four cats, and the only way we had found to mask the smell before company came was to burn strong candles and even wood chips for the smoke. We couldn't eliminate the smell, so we had to mask it with something stronger. (I know - so healthy, right?) I am a nurse, I enjoy entertaining, and I like the idea of friends and family opening our front door to enter a clean, healthy, and welcoming home. The odor of cat urine and cheap candles was getting eye watering. Now that the weather is so cold we can no longer open the windows to get fresh air...it was time to take action.
Then there was the issue of allergies. Despite having only hardwood floors and constantly vacuuming with three types of vacuums, I have to wear dust mask around the house. I take two different kinds of allergy medication pills, along with allergy eye drops, allergy nasal spray and I still have to have my inhaler handy for the attacks. I went to an allergist for allergy testing, and here is the kicker....I didn't react to cat dander as much as I did pollen and dust. It's just a plain old dusty house that is the real problem. So we have a two-fold problem: the odor of cats coupled with sneezing from dust and pollen.
Enter the LEVOIT. We decided to go all-out and run it full time on the highest setting for a while until we can beat these odors and dust back. The unit is so sleek and lightweight. On the highest setting it sounds like the window-unit air conditioners in a hotel room. We had to turn the TV volume up a bit higher, but that is a first world complaint. Within hours we noted significant odor reductions. After a few days....GONE. I can't believe it. It is a Christmas miracle! It has also eliminated the allergens in the air. I don't know how to describe it other than to say the air almost feels 'lighter' when you breathe it. Maybe it is because I am no longer battling sinus congestion or reaching for my rescue inhaler. I was skeptical about making this purchase, and now I am sorry I waited so long. I just purchased another larger one. Thank you LEVOIT!
