Movies for guys who like movies, but make it a box set of books! the series has it all heroes and villains, well built supporting characters, thrilling plot lines, and even a love interest thrown in the mix. It's earth, it's space, it's the future, it's the past, this box set is everything you need to get through the winter.

I thought the storyline was well written, and the characters development showed depth. I wish there was a little more backstory of how humanity reached such an advanced state of technology. Even though the technology was more advanced than our current technology, I thought it was based on what could actually happen.

New Frontiers provides a lot to think about beyond the oh so sweet AI taking over the world for it's own good. Would an advanced civilization believe in a diety? Would it be because they knew something we don't? Could the diety be real? What is the measure of a good life? Immortality or living for the moment?

There is a lot of Garden of Eden and the Fall of Man here. But it is woven into the story in a way that makes you examine what a state of grace is: virtual? Android download? Immortality, but with all the human propensity for constant warfare? Reprogramming into a passive surety of faith?

All of these are examined through the eyes of great characters, excellent plot twists and plenty of actions. I would have loved this book at thirteen and I appreciate it's depth much more now than I would have, having added a whole lot of decades added to that thirteen.

Will war breakout between humans and the AI machines that we built ? Is the hope for the human race in the distant stars ? Interstellar ships are built and sent. You'll have to read this collection to find the answers.

It follows through a couple centuries and is interesting how they transition time. The narrative was very good and the story line was involved. However the killing or foreshadowing of characters between books kinda reminded me of the walking dead in the sense that there is no defined character roles and that they can change in an instant. What threw me through a loop was the very last few chapters. I had read Dark Space prior to this book and did not know that this was the prequel. I was gradually led into a narrative that was leading towards Dark Space but I was confused because I did not see that coming at all. It all made sense on the last two chapters though. It was a good read.

A fascinating journey for the human race. We see just how inhuman people can be when faced with overwhelming obstacles. A gift given by one non-human species and then taken away by another, might not be such a gift after all. Reminds of a short story I heard once... a little mouse walking in the cold field gets pooped on by a cow, a wolf comes by and takes him out of the poop, then eats him. What is a gift? What is a hero? All a matter of perspective. You will enjoy this series even if your not a SciFi fans.

This was a very good 3 book series! It covered a very long period of time, and many different types of life forms! The idea of replacing the human race with androids or some other type of humanoid form was a pretty disturbing thought! But something that is not out of the question in the very far future. I enjoyed these books very much.
