Fun new book from the author of Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site

My grandson loves trucks, trains, and books about both. This new book is number five in a line of stories that continue to be his number one requests for reading aloud, ever since he was a bit under 2. He's now 5 years old, and has begun reading the books to himself. But, he still enjoys our read-aloud times; we've even shared a book over the Internet. He holds his copy close to the screen while I read, and vice versa. The rhyming-method of story-telling works very well with these books. The stories are clever and we've learned a lot about trucks and one fantasy train that still had all the correctly-named train cars. The new book introduces a "female" truck, Kid McGear. I especially liked how she quietly helped in a sticky situation and broke through the initial disbelief in her ability to be a truly useful truck because she was smaller than the others. It was fun for both my grandson and me to see her accepted into the group in the end.
