Great story, so so so bad editing.

First, love me some Bones and Maddock. The storyline itself was great. Adventure and entertainment galore. Big but here. NEVER have I read a book by so prolific a writer that had so many errors. It made an otherwise enjoyable read much less so. Words missing, wrong words used, sentences just stopped and I could go on. Every other paragraph had something wrong and made it all so choppy to read. Not fun. Whomever put this out there with such horrible editing should be ashamed and embarrased.

I’m a fan of David Wood, but he should be appalled and embarrassed that this book was released in its current form. At best, it’s a rough draft. It was a tough read grammatically (typos, missing words, sentence fragments, etc) - feels like the David either employed a ghostwriter or actually wrote this book years ago and just now published without bothering to edit.

I have read and enjoyed many Dane and Bones novels in the past, and would have given this one 3 stars for the enjoyable story, but the typos, uncapitalized names and unfinished sentences were very distracting. I am not particularly fussy about this kind of thing, but there was a lot of it. With so many automatic grammar, spelling and punctuation editing programs out there I don't understand how this kind of work can be presented to the public. Especially when it is a well established author.

I've enjoyed David Wood's Maddock/Bones adventures for many, many years. This was a good read, however, I've never seen so many grammatical errors. I can usually overlook a few typos, transposed words, etc. However, there was SOOOOOO many in this book, it was totally distracting. Seriously, 'to' instead of 'too', 'there' instead of 'their'. Very simple errors. I was so disappointed.
David, if you read this review, PLEASE change editors. It seems that your rough-draft was funneled through electronic auto correct, however, not read for accuracy. Also, the ending was lame. Bones and Maddock have kept many secrets over the years from their countless adventures. Wasn't necessary that they were forced to 'Forget'.

I have read 17 of your books so far. This one being #18. This has to be the most poorly edited book I've ever read. I hate it when I have to re-read sentences to figure out the gist. There are missing words, added words and typos throughout. I would've given you a 5 rating as the book has your usual creative and entertaining storyline. One more try Mr. Wood. If the next book I purchase is the same quality I'm done. It would be a shame, because I love your creative mind.

Trying to rewrite all the typos and word transpositions in this book, in your head as you go, is absolutely mind numbing. A real pity because most of the Dane Maddox books I have already read are really quite good. Buyer beware!

I have been a reader of the Maddock and Bones books since book 1 and throughly enjoyed them all. It is disappointing to see so many poor reviews because of the editing/typos etc anyone who follows David will have received a message from him explaining what had happened and apologising but things like that sometimes happen.
Back to this story great learning about how the guys all teamed up and left their past behind them. Shadow organisations, guardians of the deep and a lost lost secret all to be revealed. Great work David keep them coming.

Interesting read but not a great. The book took me awhile to get into as there wasn’t much suspense in the middle. There was many times I could easily speed read and not miss anything. On a positive note I think the authors concept of the book was interesting.
