To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
There are a lot of short stories in this collection since most of the stories are only a handful or two pages long. Some are really quite good while others were just dark or had a quick and dirty moral or meme to cover. The quality of each story varies greatly. Some are good enough for a mid tier anthology while others are on par with a good high school production.
If you like halloween and scary you might like this. Just keep in mind that this anthology is everywhere as far as theme but if you don't like one story it is over so fast maybe the next one will work for you.
I might have rated this a 3 but it does get better and you can tell some of these authors are just getting started and I'm more inclined to be forgiving because of that. They aren't all polished gems but some are definitely uncut gems waiting to be fleshed out and to face the deadly white out and scissors of an old fashioned editor bwahahhaha. Kill your darlings has a whole new meaning!
A highly disappointing collection of micro-fiction. Lots of editing is needed. Between the spelling and grammar errors, and spacing issues, it was very difficult to get through the whole book. Two of the stories are repeated in the anthology. The poems do not flow well. There was not one story I liked well enough to bother keeping this book.
What's your favorite kind of Halloween candy? The fun sized candy bars, right? Well, this is the literary equivalent! Fun sized bites of spookiness that can be enjoyed as a quick little treat, or you can sit up at night greedily devouring them until you get a stomach ache and nightmares!
