How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsSimplified for my kids
Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2019
My kids really enjoyed reading through this book about failing and learning to improve.

They may call this a kids book but it is great for adults that may need a quicker answer until they are ready to read to full adult book.

2.0 out of 5 starsMissed Opportunity to make Principles more accessible
Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2019
Such a huge fan of Ray’s 5 Life Principles, 16 Work Principles and his 5-Step Process.

Like many others, I pre-ordered this and was excited to look at it today.... but it really missed the mark.

This book does cover the 5-step process but didn’t incorporate Ray’s Principles in a way I felt was meaningful. Very disappointing. I’d probably give it 4 stars for just being a book from a grandfather sharing experiences with his grandkids, but this book promised the Principles and it fell flat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! My kid really needed this

Out 8-year-old is thrilled to have this book! He's had questions about life for a while now: "how will I make money, how will I get a place to live, how will I find a wife, etc". If he couldn't get an answer that was understandable to him personally, he'd really worry about it. He loved getting this book as a present. The timeline of life that's included at the very end is brilliant. He thought the inscription was great too.

3.0 out of 5 stars MIssed the mark + his religion (self) is off-putting.

Huge reader of Ray’s daily posts on LinkedIn. He’s a thinker and a great sharer of information. The book is ok. It was written for his grandchildren, but will probably go above their heads. His religion of self, Big Bang, machines was a surprise? I thought he was smarter than that, but worldly success clouds for certain.

The principles he outlines are simple and easily digestible, but if you are a reader of his adult books and love them, this will probably miss the mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really great presentation of important concepts for business and for life

In addition to the Kindle version, I have purchased several hardback copies of Ray Dalio's "Principles for Success" to give away as gifts to people at work as well as to my son who is in his early twenties. The book reminds me of Kees Boeke's 1957 book, "Cosmic View: The Universe in 40 Jumps." Both are "simple picture books" that present life-changing concepts in an insightful and captivating way. I keep both books on my desk at work as reminders of how to understand the challenges in front of me as infinitely repeating events that come into more manageable focus if I practice stepping back and from learning from my experiences and the experiences of others. Great life lessons that these books present readers and can save a lifetime of learning.

Too bad it does not talk about second order effects. Also, the printing in my copy was poor on a couple of pages.

I was given a copy of this book and after reading it I immediately thought it would be great for anyone. It is not only easy to read it has great flow, allows you to think about each statement. I purchased a copy for my grandchildren, 22 and 19 years old. I was going to send them mine but decided I wanted to keep my copy and they could have theirs. Very understandable, very thoughtful and a great deal of clear thought. This book is a good read for anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Been working through this book with my 4 year old son, now 5, a must read!
Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020

Amazingly he is enjoying it, and taking some of the advice to heart already. My original plan with this book was to just get him started young on hearing these principles with the idea that over years and years he would incorporate them in his life. But to my surprise he has already applied some of what he has learned and has more than once asked me to ready him more of the book. That said it definitely takes some translation for a kid of his age, because lets face it the "goals" of a 4 year old are quite different then a "Ray Dalio". But the language can scaled down to something more relatable to younger children. I have read the adult book myself and find that this is possible the most important book I have ever read!

I feel like this should be sold as a kid's book but I like that it's for adults. Probably 90% of the population could learn from this. Buy it for yourself and read it to your 6-year-old child or grandchild. I love Ray Dalio and follow him religiously. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there are just so few words in the book. It's laid out like a child's book. Full-page art with just a couple of lines on each page. I knew it was a summary but I had no idea it would be in this format. Still, valuable lessons, just not what I was expecting. Highly recommended for children of all ages and adults who have people they like to share with.
