Book 3 of the Exiled Fleet series has been a long time coming, so long in fact, that I had to reread the first two books again to refresh my memory of the story-line. Thankfully, Richard reassures readers that the next book will be out a lot sooner (yay!) Their Finest Hour was excellent and lived up to my expectations - it furthered the story-line and gave a few interesting twists that were unexpected. Once again Thomas Gage and what's left of the Albion navy battles the Daegon with inevitable high loses, but despite that, the Albions show true grit earning the begrudging respect and irritation of Tiberian (a Daegon leader). Exciting battles both in space and on the ground had me on the edge of my seat and I can hardly wait for book 4 just to see what happens next :)

There was much to like about the author’s other series, but this is my favorite. Fox has gotten better and better as a writer and storyteller who creates good plot lines and develops unforgettable characters. Gage is a good one. Still inscrutable to some extent. But it’s in the lesser characters where Fox shines.
Fox has given himself plenty to room to run in this series. We still have much to learn about the universe that existed before the invasion as well as the origins of the invaders themselves.
I can't remember a book of Richard's that I didn't enjoy, they always live up to expectations. The Albion's have entered the Indus system hoping for relief from the Daegon's attack but they are soon followed and once again must rise to the occasion. Looking forward to the next Book.
... we see Albion's fleet strike back hard, uniting humanity under a thin guise of cooperation. Meanwhile, intrigue and mysteries deepen, even as human existence is threatened. It was a welcome return to the Albion world, and the next book is being eagerly anticipated.
I can even forgive you for jerking my heart around a portly steward. Maybe.

Mr. Fox's universes are better than anyone else's! The characters are solid, the drama is brilliant and the battles are fantastic! If you like space empires and last ditch battles, this is where you need to come! Five stars!
