OK, so I started off this book wanting to know how Ezra would get rid of his demon. The not-so-subtle indications from book 5 convinced me that it would be resolved in the next book.
Well, nope. Nothing is resolved in book 6, which finishes in the middle with the key point unresolved. It's as if the author just wrote 1/2 a book and said "Suck on this reader. To see the other 1/2 of this book, you need to buy the next book in the series." Book 6 ends with a cliff hanger saying we have to buy book 7 to learn how this will be resolved. I really hate cliff-hangers; they're so dishonest! Imagine going into a coffee shop, buying a coffee and getting 1/2 a cup and being told you will have to buy another cup to get the 2nd 1/2. The only reason it works with books is that you have to read all of the book before you learn that the author suckered you in and gave you a 1/2 cup of coffee instead of a full cup.
And then it gets even worse. Because book 7 ends with yet another cliff-hanger and nothing about Ezra and his demon is resolved. Yes, folks, if you buy book 7, the author will do the exact same scam as book 6.
This practice is so dishonest it makes me furious. I just can't understand why authors think that dishing out a series of 1/2 books is OK, and not a reprehensible marketing ploy to scam readers into paying more money. A series done well is like Harry Potter. Each book is complete, but you know something will happen the next time. It's not 1/2 a book and deliberately attempting to fool the customer into buying the next 1/2 book in the series.
