3.0 out of 5 starsCrazy number of parallels to Ilona Andrews Hidden Legacy series and also Kate Daniels series

I pretty much never write a review, but I thought it was interesting that no one else has commented on the crazy number of parallels to the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. I absolutely love the Hidden Legacy series with a PI protagonist (who thinks her magic isn't much and finds out that it is really powerful), magic created by humans (with a serum instead of 10 Jewish men), magic Houses that rule sections of the world, an illusionist Head of a House, and another Head with off-the-charts powerful magic. That series' first book was published in 2017 and this book was published in 2020. Even though I've read those books (a lot), this book is still very well written and has a good story line. The only other parallel to Ilona Andrews books is that Ashira has blood magic - which is what another of Ilona Andrews characters has (Kate Daniels series). So it's like Deborah Wilde had to lift some things directly from Ilona Andrews' books to create her story world.
