Oaky, I stuck with the whole series. The author can tell a story, but seems to lack how to fill out the characters, even the main ones. Battle scenes, what guns, bombs, etc listed on and on. Okay we know the weapons they have now. You only need to list the new ones. If this is the last book, some serious dangling questions were left. Who was Nylotte supposed to save from Trevelsom prison. Who was Amadeus, what was his story. But the WORST FAULT OF ALL!!!! As things came to a head and the group had to leave. You LEFT MAX OUT!!! Not a single word about Max. They are at their new digs and Rath is having a great time, and not one mention of Max. Rath would NEVER leave Max. I hate when authors use animals and bring them totally into the story and then either use them as cannon fodder or they just drop out of sight. My overall review is this is a story that could have been great and it wasn't. The author sacrificed the underlying story of individuals for lists of weapons and fight techniques. I have gotten used to Kurtherian series being more fight related, which is fine, but Brownstone demolished a whole mob because they killed his dog. James would not have vacated the premises and left the dog out of the picture. Just sayin! The series was okay, but learn to breathe life into your characters, even lesser characters, and don't drop details (like Max).
