To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Dean M. King’s story, The Guardians, made me cringe with revulsion and exclaim, “Ewwwww” when I first read it. But that part of me that delights in guilty pleasures applauded the ending. To be able to elicit that kind of reaction from a reader with only 100 words in your arsenal is quite a remarkable accomplishment. Nicely done Mr. King. Keep giving me reasons to look under the bed when I go to sleep at night.
Drabbles, or one hundred word stories, are a way for a writer to fine-tune their skills. After reading this anthology, I can say the writers featured have some good skills and fine talent.
The central theme of the book is Halloween. Although many do take place in the forest, some do not... so its fear all around! All kinds of creatures pop up, from werewolves to ghosts to demons. Again, I'm amazed one how these writers can create a cohesive story with a beginning, middle, and end with so few words. BRAVO!
Don't just get it for Halloween... get it for any day!
