I have a child who has a tough time grasping that he CHOSE to make the decisions he made. Be that positive or negative. “My arm hit my brother, I didn’t”, sort of stuff. So this book is one that I purchased with him in mind and I could not love it more! We are already using the words “you made a good choice” or “you could’ve made a better choice” at home so this really reinforces the messages we’re trying to get our children to absorb. LOVE LOVE!!
I loved this truly delightful picture book! 'My Magical Choices' overflows with sweet and charming messages for children on choosing the 'right' things to do. One line sums up the magic perfectly: "Your heart leads the way and knows what to do."
Absolutely LOVELY illustrations with lots of funny things tucked away here and there for kids to find. One that made me laugh was the grumpy cat. I put the picture below :)
Well done and congratulations to both author and illustrator.
Inviting illustrations and a strong message make this book a great choice! Helping children understand the power and impact of the choices they make, and how choices allow them to steer their lives in positive directions, is one of the greatest gifts parents and educators can give them. This book invites children to explore and think about their power to choose, how to choose wisely, and how our choices impact our own lives and the lives of others. Great conversation starter.
Holy moly!!! I found this book and immediately ordered. It’s beautifully written and the illustrations are gorgeous. As I life coach, this book truly speaks my language and I’m beyond excited to finally have a way to explain such important, life changing concepts to the children in my life. I’ll be buying the entire series and sharing these as gifts with friends and family. A MUST!!!!!
The fun and colorful illustrations beautifully capture the great message of this book- you are in charge of your choices! How wonderfully empowering for children to learn that their reactions to situations out of their control are up to them!
My daughter learn new values! Everyday she flip one page and says “ Today I choose to be responsible!” Then she made her bed, clean her room, brush her hair without telling her. Will recommend to every kid!
My boys, 8 and 2, both love this book! It is vibrant and well designed. The message of YOUR CHOICES really stick out but not in a lecturing way.
My favorite things about it are:
1. It is not a super short book. 15 lessons of Choices. It's long enough to get into it, but not too long that a child loses interest. 2. It was clearly created by a mom like myself, who put a lot of thought and love into it. 3. It teaches children to be thoughtful of others feelings and how to be responsible. 4. One of my favorite pages is the "Gentle" lesson. The line "Use your hands with grace and care. Be kind to pets when stroking their hair. With little friends you're careful too, nobody wants to get a boo-boo." This page is important to me because I'm super adamant about kids not being rough with animals and learning to control their impulses. Plus, as boys grow, they need to know the importance of respecting a woman this same way. 5. My other favorite page is the "Magic starts in you" lesson. The first line is "You are the captain of your own ship." Which reminds me of a poem I had to recite in Literature my Freshman year of highschool:
'Invictus' by William Ernest Henley...
"Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul."
I love that I can relate this book back to that poem, and instill into my children that THEY are in charge of the course their lives take. No one else is.
Overall, this book is wonderful and I will be buying the other Magic of Me Series books!
What an amazing book. My kids (7,6,3) really enjoyed this book, as did I. The pages are thick which makes the book feel extra sturdy. I like this because my kids like to turn the pages and other book’s pages crinkle up easily. These seem like they will hold up very well. Besides cosmetic reasons, the message this book teaches kids is written in a way that they can understand and relate to. This is one of our new favorite books!
Five stars best book on Amazon June 18,2020 You want nice colorful sturdy enough pages to flip? Poems? Meaningful ? This is the book.
