How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Tig has just moved from LA to her mother's house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with her daughter, Paige. She is starting as a Associate professor at the local college teaching theater arts. While exploring the theater with her student assistant they discover the body of the professor whose position she is taking over. Her nemesis from high school is now a reporter for the local newspaper and it seems like she never left the attitude toward Tig behind. Her boyfriend from high school is now the chief of police and the one who is investigating the murder. Things are not as they seem with the whole situation and the twists and turns add to the plot.

After encountering dreadful ageism in another Jessica Archer novel, I swore I would read no other books by the author. However, this had an intriguing premise and no older characters to be maligned, and so I gave it a go. I found only one tiny editing fail throughout (what a delightful teacher once called an "inside out clause"). The characters were basically believable but for one who was completely over the top. The paranormal element is lightly drawn and enhances, rather than disturbs the story. I must admit to prejudice in that I am very, very bored with the tired old plot device of the "divorced woman reconnects with handsome old flame who just happens to be investigating the murder". Yeesh. Come up with something new, cozy writers! I'd probably have given the book four stars but for that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable story with no ending

I was reading and enjoying this story when suddenly it ended, leaving lots of things hanging, like it had started as a much longer story and was then arbitrarily divided into two or three separate stories. A story should have a beginning, a middle, and an end, but this one stopped in the.middle.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great cast of characters - even a ghost!

Jessica Archer and her Coastal Playhouse Mysteries have just become a new favorite! A great cast of characters, all realistic and their situations entirely believable. Antigone (Tig) is fun to follow on her adventures to figure out who murdered the Professor. And for comic relief, I loved her arch enemy Alicia; the catty, gossiping, almost libelous reporter for the local rag! If you love cozy mysteries featuring small, did I mention coastal, town, then this series is for you. Suspense until the surprise ending!

4.0 out of 5 stars Affairs and blackmail

Tig just can’t catch a break. Literally. This is a good whodunnit and every thing isn’t what it seems. There are a lot of twists and turns, but that’s what makes this a good read. I was really rooting for Attila and I’m a dog lover. I’m not sure who’s worse, Leo or his owner.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This story consists of a strong female lead character, with a few other main characters. The daughter, the sheriff, the co-workers are all part of the story. But trying to solve the "who dunnit" is the best part.

This book has good forward motion and believable characters! I very much enjoyed reading this. I'd like to drop kick Alicia. I suppose we've all known someone like her. Tig's character is great. There is enough background to make sense of the stupid and petty Alicia. Chief Lamm will likely be prominent in future books as well.

Fig is the main character. She returns to her hometown to teach at the local college only to discover a body. She is curious to find out who the murderer is. Fig must deal with a vindictive reporter, her mother's ghost and a pesky neighbor.

Another well-written book that is easy to read, likable characters and a good plot set on the coast of North Carolina! I thoroughly enjoyed this and just bough the second book in this series .. and am going to start reading it instead of going to sleep!!
