Amazon calculates a product’s star ratings based on a machine learned model instead of a raw data average. The model takes into account factors including the age of a rating, whether the ratings are from verified purchasers, and factors that establish reviewer trustworthiness.
I've been in the workshop since I was a little kid. So I've been a "maker" for a long time. I'm also a mechanical engineer. So this book got my attention immediately. The book is logically arranged and well thought out. The authors present each engineering concept with hands-on examples. Many engineering concepts are explored, including levers, gears, pulleys, and other mechanisms. And the book has plenty of other information on materials sources, tools, and other supporting topics. It definitely deserves a spot on your bookshelf. Highly recommended.
The book provides a good, simple and basic refresher overview of mechanical engineer concepts at the level a Maker would need (not a comprehensive Mechanical Engineering text by any means) and offers enthusiasm and suggestions on starting your own projects. The kindle version has blank pages on the iPad (for instance pages 7 and 8) but it is complete on the kindle for MAC. So I have to read this book at my computer, for this I knock the overall rating down to a 4.
This is for the experienced and newbs alike. Written in a very understandable way. I am loving this book, it's going to help me build my dreams!!! I suggest buying a hard copy to have on hand over a kindle version. The hard copy you can jot down notes on.
