My 10yr old has read this book 3 times already. She is concerned about going to middle school and this story helped ease her anxiety. She is a huge fan of graphic novels. She once told me she hated to read. Once I introduced her to graphic novels, she has been excited about reading. She has a stack of books in the bathroom, next to her bed, and in her backpack. She is always reading. I have been looking for a graphic novel with characters that look like her. She loved the fact that the girls wear bonnets to bed like my daughter and her sister do, they go to church, have plus sized Moms who wear head wraps and get saucy every now and then. She even noticed the Afro comb and edge control on the dresser. She is so impressed to see little girls that live lives similar to hers.
This book is a winner! My daughter can't put it down.
