To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This book can help you pass the essay portion of the bar, but there are better resources. There are many places where the outline is almost impossible to parse. Once you figure out what they are trying to convey, you realize it could have been clearly expressed *with no loss of meaning/nuance* using half of the number of words the authors did. In a few places they are wrong on the substantive law (and not because of recent changes), I'm talking about things like a "not" missing. In a few places their model answer outlines are flat incorrect. You can get some things wrong and still pass, so if you memorized this book cover-to-cover and you can write you most likely would pass the essay portion of the exam. I will say that having to wade through their language encourages active learning because it's very difficult to read, but it is a painful process.
This book is a wonderful tool to have in your bar prep arsenal. I was fortunate enough to have both authors teach sections and subjects of not only this material, but also MBE material and if I don’t pass the bar before their MBE book comes out next year, I’ll certainly be purchasing it as well. This book is also great for general review, and for reducing anxiety surrounding bar prep as a whole. The outlines and checklists break down what would otherwise be a daunting amount of material into digestible sections. The chapters provide supplemental in-depth explanations of bar subjects that will be helpful in young lawyers careers beyond the bar, not to mention the practice essays and essay breakdowns! An invaluable resource.
Helped my writing score tremendously since it breaks down, in simple terms, how to issue spot and write about the issue. 2 of the essays on the bar were 75% similar to questions I had reviewed in this book. If you are short on time, just reviewing all the essays along with the charts and model answers is your best bet. If you have adequate time, feel free to write each and compare to the charts and model answers.
I highly recommend this essay book. It breaks down all the issues. It shows how to issue spot. It has a chart for each essay that helps to understand the breakdown of the law and how it applies to each fact. For each subject outline the book has issue checklist and memorization attack sheet which is perfect for final review. It is a wonderful tool for the CA essay portion of the bar. I am using PT book as well. It breaks down and shows step by step what we need to write in each part of the PT, and how we need to apply rules to facts.
Thank you Authors for these amazing books. Very very helpful.
