Eve, the poison apple.

Another great read till I got to the last 1/4 of the book and this heroine turned into a selfish, self centered, crazy woman who I had zero respect for. I almost couldn't finish the book. I can appreciate naive, broken, and even a little crazy with her back story, but I can NOT tolerate weak, whiney, and a woman more concerned that her man just killed a couple of evil guys that had already killed a few of his men, and were about to kill them and their rescue. All she could say is that Thanatos had killed in cold blood and she was so devastated over that loss of life because he didn't give them a chance to surrender. Say what?!??? Cold blood it is not when these evil men have already killed and tortured others and frankly where was her devastation for the real victims here, the good guys who died saving her and their rescue. It was all about the bad guys. I honestly don't care about her love for life reasoning that gets expressed here no matter what happens to her, if she can't see evil vs good. The ultimatum at the end...insert eye roll here. Keep walking lady. Who are you to demand without trying to understand your hero and what he's survived. He has a job to do and if he has to save his men, he's going because that's the man he is. I enjoy this author and series but I did not enjoy this book or this heroine. Maybe I'm too much of a believer in that quote , "People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. " Either way, Eve is a big no for me.
