Quinn's still trying to figure out who she is

When we last saw Quinn MacKenna at the end of the previous book, Sea Breeze, it looked as if she was about to be dashed to pieces on rocks at the bottom of the ocean between the mythical terrors of Scylla and Charybdis.
Having survived that obstacle, she is now being dragged on her own Odyssey of sorts through the Titan realm to discover who and what she really is.
That’s right – after eight books, she still isn’t sure. Every time she figures a bit of it out, something comes along that indicates everything else she had figured out was really a lie. She gains new powers, only to lose them again the next time she moves to a new realm. Or, the powers she has remain out of her proper control.
This time, she is sent to the island of Circe to supposedly learn how to control her latest set of powers. And, of course, she promptly loses all these powers while attempting to channel her inner goddess. Then it turns out she’s a goddess of Night, but loses her powers during the day.
Circe sends her back to the islands of the Laestrygonians where she must battle the zombies under the control of Jack Frost (formerly Quinn’s friend, Ryan O’Rye) and Dr. Frankenstein. Formerly I had thought that Ryan was the controlling figure of that pair, but it now appears that it may be Frankenstein who’s in charge. During a night of battle, Quinn drives them off, but it seems they have only left to attack from another quarter.
Before returning to Circe, Quinn undergoes a bizarre time trip along with Nate Temple where they revisit key scenes from each other’s lives (important scenes from previous books), and Quinn winds up saving someone important to Nate who had died, while Nate interfered in the events leading to the death of a very important person in Quinn’s life. But did these things really happen? Or was it all an illusion?
The book ends on another major cliffhanger as Quinn tries once more to outwit death in her continuing attempt to save the world and all her friends.
