Conflict with LG TV Remote "Volume Down" Signal
Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2020
There's a conflict with my LG TV remote control signal - the "Volume Down" signal from my TV remote causes the HDMI switch to switch from Input 1 to Input 2. There may be other conflicts which I haven't discovered, but this is the only one I've observed so far. Originally, I had my cable box connected to Input 1 and Roku to Input 2, both devices which are always on. I don't think the switch will switch to an HDMI input which doesn't have a live signal, so I moved my Roku to Input 3 to avoid having an "always on" devices connected to Input 2 (right now I don't have any device connected to Input 2), and this seems to be a work around as "Volume Down" doesn't seem to have an effect in this configuration. Now I need to decide if I want to keep a 5-port HDMI switch which is now, in effect, a 4-port switch for me, since I may not be able to use Input 2. Or maybe I can connect a device not used frequently (i.e. HDMI signal not on frequently), like my DVD player, to Input 2 and reduce the chance of unwanted switching due to "Volume down", and be able to live with this inconvenience. Still testing to see if this is the only remote control issue. Other than that, my only other complaint is that the USB power cable is too short (< 1 meter) to reach an AC outlet, using the provided AC adapter; fortunately, I had an available USB port on my TV so I located the switch near this USB port and I am powering the switch from the TV's USB port. On the positive side, it's a nice, compact unit (much smaller than I had imagined) and seems to otherwise be working fine.
