5.0 out of 5 starsGreatest product available aligned with best company service in business
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2020
Okay, I will start out by saying I am a U.S Service-member with over twenty years of Honorable service. With that being said I’ve done multiple tours to almost every desert in the Middle East, tours in tropical environments, tours in some pretty secluded off grid undisclosed locations. I only put this out there because I’ve had the pleasure of being a Jackery customer for years and years and the Jackery 240 portable power station, , the Jackery Solar Saga 60w tri-fold panels, and the small Jackery portable chargers were compact and lightweight enough to fit into my pack with ease and leave me room for the other essentials. Imagine being in the middle of nowhere and have a weeks worth of power at your fingertips for recharges, lights, portable fans, small burner for coffee and cooking. Then being able to say it never failed you, always recharged quickly, and has been through the worlds harshest conditions and environments, yet functions like the day you pulled it out of the box. So this began my Jackery passion. Which led me to purchase the Jackery 500. Everything I’ve said above applies to the 500 ten fold folks. Being Military my pay isn’t great so I’ve had to accumulate these items over the course of years, however never have I had to justify spending the money to my wife, as long as I said the word Jackery. Because she’s used the items as well here at home guard. My son plays Football and daughter plays soccer in the Nevada desert just miles away from where the annual Burning Man event is held. Hot dry desert climate, no trees for shade, just direct unrelenting heat. This genius woman, the love of my life used our Jackery Portable power stations to run dual fans, and a small refrigerated trucker cooler during daytime practices in a pop up sunshade tent, all neatly placed in one of those little soccer mom wheeled totes, and a folding low loveseat chair. Talk about super mom, with lots of friends who also wanted to stay cool. Then when night fell and the kids weren’t finished with practice, my lovely wife handed over the Jackery 500 to the coaches who then plugged LED lights into it and lit up the field for the kids giving us an extra hour or two to practice without the heat. This convinced her to give me permission to buy the SolarSaga 100w panels. Money was tight but she gave me the go ahead and we’ve never looked back and haven’t got an ounce of regret or buyers remorse for a single product. But this review is neither for the the Jackery 240, the Jackery 500, the SolarSaga 100w or 60w panels. It’s not even for the Jackery portable chargers. This review is to let you know, the day the Jackery 1000w Portable Power Station became available we did not hesitate for a second to buy it. With the stories we heard from friends about California and Washington power outages, the Covid-19 Pandemic, and any one of the many RV trips we take into Gods country to get away from it all for a few weeks, we both agreed this was the best thing for our family. Why use heavy loud generators, carry fuel, deal with all that monotonous nonsense, when you could literally live off the Jackery Families products. I say Family because over the years I’ve had multiple email contacts and numerous phone calls with them, and every interaction was amazing. Courteous, professional, and the products are literally second to none. The Jackery 1000 is my newest addition and there’s nothing I can say about it that the 240 or 500 don’t already represent. Twice the power, twice the life, multiple solar panel options, can recharge through car, wall, or good ol sunshine. I could get technical and go down the path as some of these reviewers do, but you anyone can read the box. I can sum everything the box says by just telling you that these products, put out by this amazing company, can enhance anyone’s life, save somebodies life, and will probably last your the rest of yours. It’s a no brainer for us. I’ve purchased every product so far with a smile knowing its perfect and the people handing it to me care enough to treat you as if you were family.

Only had success with:
small fan = yes

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh, better would be better.

The display back light lacks a permanent on option. It is annoying to have to turn it on by pressing the button every 15 seconds, and it is difficult to see it without the back light. Minor gripe, but significant if you need it, but cannot see it.

Good power source. No complaints there. Lacks Goal Zero quality across the board. Also, does not feel as solid. Display has fewer options and and less precise info (no amps, no time to complete charge, no total watt hours, etcetera).

The top is not flat. Would be better to have folding handle like Goal Zero does. Those changes would make storage and transport much better. I don't like the fixed handles on any of the Jackery models. Can’t pack stuff on top very well. Cant’t set stuff on top for usable space. A wireless charging option on the top would be really nice to set a phone or other device there and use it as a charging pad. Perhaps all of these power stations will start to head that direction in future models.

I do like that its footprint is exactly perfect to set on top of the Goal Zero 500X. Someone measured!

I’ll keep this for a spell and then sell it at a slight loss to get a better a product. I’ll likely go for the upcoming Goal Zero 1000X or 1500X. I should have waited longer for competing products to release. Such is life. And, now, YOU know.

This is not a rip on Jackery. Critical feedback is needed, and blunt honesty makes everyone better. I am a fan of improving quality, and to me the increased cost for that is worth it. Hope y’all find this useful. I expect many, many people will like this product. It is very likable, but is still 3 of 5, as is.

Update: the car charger will melt with frequent use and stop working. The battery charge state indicator isn't linear at around 30% the battery is actually drained and drops almost immediately to 0%.

e1000 its serving me well the 3 outlets is great most other brands offer 2 at this battery/inverter capacity. I have no issues so far I like the convient all in one portable no engineering on my behalf required solution to small solar. It powers my ps4 + 17.3 inch monitor for about 6 hours down at a 60% DOD (depth of diacharge) I dont usually push it last a 70% DOD in order to maximize cycles (lifetime of the battery).

FOR FUTURE MODELS: 2kwh capacity, modular design with plug n play add on battery packs, more ac outlets more usb outlets more 12v outlets, a 2000watt/300p surge inverter and upto a1kw solar charge controller that can handle high voltage series connected solar please ?!?! Tiny homes and van life are picking up don't you want to take over that market?

3.0 out of 5 stars Possible overheating?
Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2020

I was pleased with the product's appearance when it arrived, which was in the middle of a power outage due to hurricane delta. It arrived 40% charged. The accompanying manual was rather terse I thought but I assumed that, like many other products, the full manual would be online. I began charging it with a solar panel. After about 30 mins or so the display stopped showing the charging wattage and instead displayed multiple digits and icons that were not listed in the manual, including temperature ones. The unit was hot, so I removed it to the shade and disconnected it for a while. On reconnection it resumed charging. At 60% charge I used it to power the freezer. Later it charged fully without problem from the house mains. I went to the website but the product manual there was identical to the one in the box. I contacted the manufacturer by email and gave details of the event, asking for information about what had happened and what other icons might appear on the display. They replied but gave no answer to either - very disappointing.

Update (02/27/21) - I was contacted by a company representative a few days ago who offered apologies for the inconvenience and offered to replace the unit if I wished. I have not used the unit since my original posting but it has kept its charge at fully 100% since that time. I must emphasize that, apart from the initial hiccup, I was pleased with the unit's performance during the hurricane power outage. My "problem" was not really with the unit but with the paucity or response from the company to my original enquiry. This follow up was most welcome.

3.0 out of 5 stars For a $1000 it's just an average
Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2021

The unit overall is pretty nice, high quality, but at $1k price point it is just an average.

Pros:
- Highly portable (very light due to using Li-Ion 18650 cells)
- High quality components and manufacturing
- Very simple to use
- Quite a bit of capacity (but see more below)

1st star duck for: DC to 110AC converter efficiency is just average. Tested with kill-a-watt (P3, P4460) power meter and at 24% charge remaining the total power usage on kill-a-watt showed 0.56 KWh. So approximately, 56/74 = 74% efficiency of the power inverter, which is typical. It means if you will use 110AC outlets, expect about 740 Wh of capacity realistically (instead of 10002Wh). For a $1000 it's not much.

2nd star duck for:
- suffocating plastic smell while under load. Fan kicks in every now and then, but plastic smell persists. Maybe it will taper off after some time (so far unit went through 4-5 discharge-recharge cycles).
- Solar input limited to only about 160 watts
- Once internal batteries die, there is no way to replace them (unless you take unit apart and manually solder in new battery cells)

3.0 out of 5 stars Longer power charge cord
Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2021

The solar generator powers my blender, americool refrigerator/freezer and instapot when I travel 6 months out of the year. I bought the power station Jan 6 2021 and if I would have traveled as soon as I bought it, I would have returned it for several reasons.

1. I like my americool refrigerator/freezer in the trunk of my car with the jackery, but I can't charge the jackery while driving from the trunk, because the charging cord is too short. I primarily charge the jackery from the car outlet.

2. I don't like the jackery in the cab of the vehicle, because of the lithium batteries, there are many studies that say lithium can cause cancer.

3. My americool refrigerator freezer draws a lot of power because i use the freezer. The jackery will be full charged and within 24 hrs. the jackery will be drained to zero. A longer charging cord would solve this.

I would have returned this item, but I'm pass the return date. I am on a trip now and have given up on the use for the jackery, I'm using ice in my electric refrigerator/cooler!!!

The jackery powers everything thats a thousand watts, but Jackery should have included a longer changing cord for a $1,000 product.

3.0 out of 5 stars My first one died
Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2021

My first Jackery died after a couple of months. I called Jackery and they were amazing about it. Sent me a second one and sort of blamed me. Whatever. But they told me, "Make sure to keep it charged regularly and never leave it in the heat." Well, for a thousand dollars I think it should be able to make it a couple of months without being regularly charged. Why not just do yourself a favor and perhaps find a different kind of unit. One that is priced less and perhaps holds up a little better than a Jackery.

Yes, the customer service was nice, but this should have never happened and frankly, I shouldn't be blamed for their unit that I paid a huge chunk of money for giving up the ghost after just a couple of months. Steer clear.

Although this unit is portable, the advertising is deceiving. They make appear as this product is made in the USA but in actuality it is not. The company Jackery is based in the USA but the item is made in China. I wish they had made that clear. From my experience as a technician and home owner, Chinese product are sub standard from US made products. This item is Non-Returnable as containing hazardous material.

Amazon has it listed as 55H to 78H of power for CPAP. I charged it up to 100% and used it one night and only had 48% charge left. That was after 8H of use. I'm disappointed but, still, it's really useful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pure sinewave!
Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2020
The specs are on point. Just scratching my head comparing this to a $100 90ah deep cycle battery hooked to a $100 300watt pure sinewave inverter and a fancy $100 15amp smart charger/maintainer (to recharge after the trip), or separate solar charger (also not included with this product). That's close to the same usable amp hours of pure sinewave a/c current in a more modular configuration for 3x the weight and 1/3 the monetary cost. I think I'd rather deal with the extra 40-45 pounds and save the $600, especially knowing I can replace the battery for $100 when it craps out. Unless you need to power a boatload of crap but can't spare an extra .5cft of space, this device seems like a misguided approach to the problem it seeks to solve, at least for $900+.
