I listened to the audiobook and read the story via Kindle. I love the entire silver ship series until this book. In terms of the audiobook the narrator’s reading was bland. Grover Gardner gave each character their own voice and as the SADES matured you could hear through Gardner’s reading their growing humanity. The current narrator is more reserved in her reading of each character and the characters sound the same. For example in Gardner’s narration one new when Miranda was speaking. Finally I’m not a fan of the melding of Pyrean and Silver Ship series. Perhaps it is more that I find this Jess Cinders more of whiner as opposed to the Jess Cinders in Empath who was confidant in who he was and therefore could take a back seat to Harbor as her character developed. I am also not a fan of how Alex is treated in the beginning of the book. Renee and his people, SADES included, are wrong in wanting Alex to coddle Cinders. He is not on Alex’s level nor does he have the internal strength of character of the original Jess Cinders. For me, I’m just not a fan of this book.
