To use a British term, this is a 'lovely' set.

Saw this show at Constitution Hall in DC, and really enjoyed it. No, it was not in my top 10 concerts ever, but it was a very relaxing and enjoyable concert. I have seen the later Floyd 4 times ('87-88 & '94) Gilmour in '84 and Waters fairly recently, so I felt obligated to see this.
This is an excellent audio/visual recording of the concert. I am not the hugest fan of the pre-Dark Side Floyd, but this is what I really like about this concert: They are not trying to be Floyd. They are not trying to be a glorified tribute band. These are all excellent musicians with their own successful careers, anchored by Mason, who are just out having a great time making music. And that's what comes across in this (both this recording and seeing them live) they are just ENJOYING making this music and playing with each other. the playing is top notch and the singing (which has to cover the different styles of Barrett, Gilmour and Waters) is excellent. I never felt that the singing was 'wrong' which is a common problem when a band with different singers is doing such iconic material.
If you even mildly like early Floyd I would highly recommend this. It's totally different from the versions early Floyd did, and totally different from the big production of the later Floyd (for the 2 songs shared they they played). It's just Mason and friends having fun reviving and reliving these songs.
One last thing. Being a huge Floyd fan, Mason has not played drums by himself since either '77 or '79 (not sure if they had a 2nd drummer for the Wall) barring Live 8. And it's a shame. I always wondered that maybe Mason lost it and needed the extra help during the later Floyd tours (never liked the million band members on the later tours), but Mason totally nails it. Reminds me of Charlie Watts, not flashy, but absolutely solid and unique. Shame he hasn't played more, but awesome that he took the risk to put this together and really do it!
