Top critical review
If this is a good sound bar, sound bars are a bad idea.

This is the first soundbar I've ever bought because I used to pipe audio through an old pair of Bose Series II speakers from the '70s, which was admittedly overkill, but I thought it would be better than the default audio from the new 4K TV that I bought in preparation for the PS5. I use it 50/50 for video games and the Chromecast I have plugged into the TV, and rarely use it for anything strictly audio.
First of all, there's a light on the front that tells you what the audio source is (unless you're changing the volume, in which case it shows you the number that the level is), and it never turns off. I put a piece of electrical tape over it, because when I'm watching a movie, I don't care that the soundbar is on OPT the whole time. I don't think anyone cares about that. It would have been easy to have it show something on the bar for five seconds after you change it, then go dark, but no. For some reason, TaoTronics wants you to always know which hole your audio is coming from.
Second of all, it doesn't get loud. From what I can tell, ever. It's almost always on max volume, and I'm starting to think that it's the bottleneck for anything coming out of the TV, because if I turn it off, the volume that comes out of the TV's speaker goes higher than the soundbar will if the volume on both is turned up all of the way. I have a portable bluetooth speaker that I keep on the dashboard of my Prius that goes louder than the soundbar. I've tried different audio sources, I've tried changing volume levels, and I've tried different devices, and none of them get loud. I'm not using it outside on the tarmac at an airport, I'm using it in my living room in a rural part of Vermont.
The sound quality isn't strictly bad, but I can't get it to go loud enough to know whether it sounds good, either. It's just tall enough that I have to put the remote for my TV up in the air, since most TV feet aren't quite as tall as the bar is if it's sitting right under the screen where the IR input is.
If I cared more, I'd send it back, but I don't think it's fair to other people who haven't bought it yet to let them buy the same product. I wish I'd done slightly more research before I bought it, because if I had, I wouldn't have bought this one, despite the price.
