Good screen size, great battery, but... very slow/laggy, buggy for no reason

I've had this phone for only a few days now and honestly I'm quite underwhelmed by its performance compared to its specs. I'm coming from using an old iPhone 6S that I had for quite a while, and honestly this phone out-of-box has some of the absolute strangest glitches and random occurrences that make it quite slow and difficult to use for everyday tasks.
On the plus side, it has a nice big, really nice screen and a great battery. Build quality is quite good as well (although plastic). The camera quality is decent and has a lot of cool features built in as well.
For the negatives, I find that it bogs down quite a bit in different apps. In Zoom, for example, if it disconnects, it will close the app until it reconnects. Bringing up the app switcher can take up to 1.5 seconds. Bear in mind I really haven't installed anything on this phone yet and it's purchased brand-new.
The camera view is very slow/choppy when using apps like Snapchat, and the camera app itself can actually 'fail' or crash at random times.
The fingerprint reader is horrendous. I don't know what it is but every 5th or so time I go to unlock my screen, I can't get in with EITHER fingerprints I have registered. Sometimes it'll be probably be caused by a *little* bit of moisture or dust on my finger. I think it's a really cool feature having it integrated into the screen, but basically useless if it's not reliable.
For a relatively new phone I'd honestly have to say give this one a pass. The hassle isn't really worth the good price, specs, or alleged features. If it can be challenged by a phone that came out 5 years prior, I think I should be looking elsewhere.
