This is the book I needed right now

Magical Academy for Delinquents (or MAD) blends humor with action, a touch of angst, emotional backstory, and steamy romance to form this engrossing book that equal parts makes you laugh out loud, tear up, and heat up ;).
There are a lot of high angst RH books out right now and I'm not knocking them because to each their own, but I need something a bit different right now and MAD delivered. I haven't read an RH with this heisty feel to it.
Hayley has a goal and she's focused on that goal. She thinks that once she gets to MAD that her pieces will fall into place. But her "pieces" are guys that she needs to help her with her heist and people can throw wrenches in your plans. Watching Hayley figure out how to connect with other people was awesome.
The guys are very much a mix of personalities and talents (which is why she needs them) but getting that mix to buy into her plan and also act cohesively as a crew takes some wrangling and time. I really liked all the guys and how each one supports Hayley in a different way.
The villains in MAD are appropriately villainy and what's happening that could be helped because of the heist is even larger than what Hayley originally plans. As for the heist itself, I'm staying mum on that because spoilers.
The book does end on a cliffhanger, it's not as huge of a one as a couple of Ms. Denton's other books I've read, but it's worth pointing out. I'm itching for book 2 and definitely recommend folks check this baby out!
