This was a pleasant surprise. The only freeze dried food I've had before was freeze dried fruit. As a meal option I had low expectations, but this is genuinely good! We tried it for the first time while camping and found it to be a fast, easy and delicious hot meal. I'd even say it's better than the frozen stuff in the red box! Will be buying more for camping and emergency prep.
I bought this same item 11 months ago for our family backpacking trip. However it was 10 servings and $25. Now they want to charge $42 for 9 servings?! You might expect this to happen from an unscrupulous black marketer type, but this being sold by the manufacturer Mountain House. Forget it - I'm not buying from Mountain House ever again, there are too many alternatives and good companies out there. I'm staying away.
