How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsCrazy, totally juvenile, pointless, and worth every minute of it.

I'm an...ummm, "mature" adult. Ok. Fine. I'm an educated well read middle ages woman who loves to read great Science Fiction, Post Apocalyptic, anything by Brandon Sanderson, Matthew Mather, Douglas E Richards, and Jim Butcher. Yes...I just plugged the names of some incredibly talented and diverse Authors into this review and yes, I have read every single book each of them has written except Butcher's Codex Alera and graphic novels.

My point, I read a lot of books, books written by brilliant Authors. Yet by the time I had made it to the end of the first chapter of the first Jeff Strand book I read, I was already in love. It IS intelligent, it takes a lot of talent to make a ridiculously hilarious horror story and he does it incredibly well. I wish I could find more like him...and it appears I just have.

Strand and Konrath seem to work together exceptionally well and I would love to see future collaborations between them. The only reason I don't speak as highly of Konrath is simply because I haven't really read anything of his until now. Unless Strand can make something new appear on my Kindle in the next five minutes, I'll be getting acquainted with the works of Konrath tonight.

I enjoyed this compilation. The two collaborating authors Joe Konrath and Jeff Strand are wonderful storytellers. Some of the humor is politically incorrect so if you are easily offended this book will probably not be right for you. The authors alternate stories except for the final novella. In Suckers they alternate chapters (sort of).

I liked each story but I must admit that the Harry McGlade character is my favorite. McGlade is an obnoxious supporting character in Konrath's Jack Daniel's series who gives Jack constant grief but who also routinely comes through for her when the chips are down. The Jack Daniel's series begins with:
Whiskey Sour (A Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels Mystery) . I recommend reading the Jack Daniel's books in order though each book can stand alone on its own well enough.

I was first introduced to Andrew Mayhem a few years ago when I read
Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary)  and  Casket For Sale (Only Used Once), An Andrew Mayhem Thriller by Jeff Strand. These books are available now in Kindle format, also. It just doesn't get any better than that.

The partnership of Harry McGlade and Andrew Mayhem in Suckers worked really well for me - sometimes laugh out loud funny. This is relaxing, no-brain entertainment at it's best.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOL, LMAO, More Acronyms For Laughing...

I'm not sure if I've ever laughed so many times while reading a book. Both authors are comic geniuses, and when they are put together in the novella Suckers, something strange happened. Apparently funny + funny = wiping tears from my eyes because I was laughing so hard.

In addition to Suckers, there are a handful of short stories from both authors. These are quite enjoyable, too. I especially enjoyed Konrath's "The Necro File". McGlade's character is so over the top and an absolute joy to read.

What impresses me the most about this collection of stories is the fact that both Konrath and Strand are so versatile. My first experience of Konrath's writing was the dark, horrifying Afraid (by Jack Kilborn). There was no humor in that book, so his ability to write something as funny as the McGlade stories is even more impressive. Similarly, the first book I read by Strand was Pressure. Again, not much humor there. His Mayheim stories are quite humorous.

This collection of stories was more than worth the couple bucks I paid for it. And I look forward to more Konrath/Strand compilations.

4.0 out of 5 stars I want to be Harry when I grow up.

Sadly I am already grown up. I really hope we see more of Harry's misadventures. I chuckled so many times while reading this my wife had to take a look. She read a few bits, groaned and walked off. I have a feeling this is exactly what the author was going for when he wrote this! If your humor is not a little bit "off" then this may not be for you. If you can still remember being 13 years old... then buy this book!

I enjoyed the Jeff Strand portions as well, I think without Harry they would stand out as excellent dry humor... but with Harry in the picture I found myself anticipating the next J.A. Konrath story as I read them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Stories

I enjoyed all of these stories immensely.

I will say that I like Konrath's contributions the most.

Unfortunately, this did not make me want to purchase the books that feature the Mayhem character. He was okay in small doses, but I don't think that I could wade through an entire book with him as the main character.

It's my understanding that Konrath's Harry is just a side character in his Jack Daniels' series, so I'm going to give that one a try.

The editing was terrific! It's so nice to see that people CAN self-publish and still provide us with clean, edited work. Other self-published authors should take a page from the books of these two, well, not literally, but you get the picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never laughed so hard

Warning this book is not for everyone, it is full of crude humor that some will find offensive. Harry is the best character I have ever read. Andrew is good too, but Harry is one of a kind. If you have read any of the Jack Daniels series and like Harry you have to read this book. I never have laughed so hard as I did at the crazy things that these two great authors have come up with. I hope that Andrew and Harry cross paths again at some point because they truely make a great team. So spend a couple bucks and download this and reccomend it to all your friends who have a sense of humor, and all the people you dislike who are easily offended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!

That was one of the funniest books I've read in a very long time! I'm a huge Konrath/Kilborn fan to begin with but have never heard of Jeff Strand. Boy am I glad I know about him now! I read this Kindle book every spare minute I had. I read it at night while my husband watched TV and I was laughing out loud.. I read it at the hair salon while my hair dresser was working on my hair and I laughed out loud! This was so blasted funny! I forgot that it was partially written by a horror master (Konrath) and got caught up in the hilarity. I definitely recommend this book. Again, not so much horror as we're used to from JA but all worth it nonetheless.

I'm not a big fan of the Horror genre, but I have been reading about JA Konrath for a while and I decided to get this book, because it seemed like it would be the least "blood-curdling" choice of all his novels.

The book is really well-done and very funny. There's a fair amount of profanity and four-letter words-- but for those that read horror novels on a regular basis then I doubt this will be a major issue.

Some of the stories, like "Taken to the Cleaners" are really great pulp fiction-- the hilarious story and fate of the Chicken King made me laugh out loud.

Really entertaining and fun.
