How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsFamily is not always blood
Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2021
Every new Danielle Steel book is better than her last.

Neighbors is set in San Francisco, and tells the story of Meredith White, a former actress who now lives in recluse with her caretakers. After an earthquake makes her neighbor's homes uninhabitable, Meredith invites them to live with her and now becomes involved in their lives. She also discovers that behind closed doors, everyone has their own stories. One neighbor beats his wife and his children live in fear of him, another neighbor is blind and has live in help, a third is a single man who has no interest in marriage, and goes through women like water.

Meredith also meets Charles, who has gone around to make sure that all the homes are now inhabitable. Their friendship turns to romance, and Charles helps her get rid of her current caretakers, who are stealing from her and becomes a savior to one of her neighbors and her children. He also is her support when dealing with her estranged daughter and her actress granddaughter who wants to star with her in her next film.

A great story that shows that the family that we are born in may not be the family that supports and loves us as we age.

I received an advanced copy from Net Galley and am reviewing it voluntarily.

i loved reading her novels, but a of late, and this one included, it was a if i was reading a rerun of repeated content over and over the same thing just stated a bit different I found myself flipping though pages. It is because of this that i rated it very low.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warm hearted story

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Danielle Steel novel. This was a good story - interesting plot - warm hearted and easy to follow - like catching up with an old friend. The annoyance, that often detracted from it all, was the redundant sentences here / there. We don’t need to be told three times within three pages the same thing about a character. Did anyone edit this?

This is an enjoyable book to read but it is mediocre at best. It is definitely not a book that will keep you up wondering what will happen next. Still, it is a good book to give your mind a rest from those books that do.

Story line was good but repeating information over and over on the same subject was annoying! Readers get the message the first time. There is no need to drill it into them!

Mildly entertaining. I usually expect a little more “meat” to the books I read. This book did not carry much of a punch. It was just a pleasant read, for the most part.

Danielle Steele has once again written a book about families, not by blood ties but by circumstances. The family life brings you, the family you choose. Enjoyable read but very predictable.

Story line was okay but was disappointed with it overall. Steele is losing her edge on writing books in my opinion.

Somewhat predictable, but good. Basics of human relationships addressed in a number of ways. Quick, easy read with a sweet outcome.

I enjoyed the story line but thought the editing was quite poor. Various relationships were explained multiple times...unnecessary, and it made the reading quit clumsy. This occurred mostly in the beginning chapters.

I read all of your books. Some I love and the others , like this one are too repetitious. It seems that author is just trying to fill pages.
