Ingred is amazing. She was far stronger than her captures thought and righted the sins thrust on her. There is no limit to what a person can endure or what steps they will take to avenge wrongs done to them. I would have done the same thing. This was a great personal tragedy story.
It was like dumb and dumber set in a thriller scene. I decided to read this because it sounded interesting, but I knew after the first few chapters I was wrong. The story reads like it was written by an amateur. I am sorry but there is no way I could ever recommend this book.
N.B. This is an updated review made on the 3rd July 2020 as the cover of this novel has been changed and so my original comment about the cover no longer applies and so I have deleted it. This is quite a thrilling, adult themed, story. The plot deals with a number of heinous crimes - the kidnap and abuse of 16 year old young women by pornographers. The story is predominantly told from the perspective of Ingrid Guftafson who is snatched from the street in broad daylight in Lexington, Virginia, USA. While the story does not provide you with too much graphic detail of her treatment in the hands of the pornographers, you certainly get enough to leave you in no doubt as to how much she (and other victims) have to suffer. In other words, this is no lighthearted read. While the first half of the story pretty much sets the scene of what the victims are going through, the second half of the story ratchets up the pace and tension as Ingrid seeks to escape from her captors. However there are a couple of small issues that, for me, let the story down: Firstly, part of the story focuses on how Ingrid's family are coping with her disappearance. While her mother turns to alcohol as her coping mechanism, the others all seem content to leave the investigation in the hands of the police. I would have thought they would have been more pro-active in the search for their daughter. We also are not given any insight into how the police investigation is progressing (or not progressing as seems to be the case). Secondly, I think the title of the story may well put some potential readers of thriller stories off looking at this book; yes it is a psychological horror thriller that focuses on Ingrid's shocking story of sexual abuse, but technically she was not kidnapped in the nude ... she was fully clothed at the time of her kidnap. So, provided the subject matter and title doesn't put you off, this is actually quite a griping, page-turning, thriller story.
I downloaded this on the back of 3 reviews which all raved about good this book was an how they couldn't put it down. Well I could and I have to admit I was very disappointed with it. Although the story was difficult to read regarding the content the chapters were too short with some of the storylines family too short. It was almost as if the author was in a hurry to finish some chapters. Certainly don't recommend it.
