Boy, it really took me a long time to finish this one. I looked at all the great reviews and, since I do like second chance romance, thought I was in for a good read. Maybe for someone else (hence all the great reviews!), but for me it was a long, boring slog to the end. I just couldn't get interested in any of the characters...like NONE. Sydney is apparently in her mid-thirties but acts (and reacts) like a petulant teen at times. Had she been willing to stop pouting and actually have an adult conversation with her former lover, it wouldn't have taken long for things to be solved. Successful songwriter (and multi-millionaire) Nate has returned to hopefully settle things with his college sweetheart but bumbles his way around like a 12-year old at times. Again...real communication was needed! Firefly Beach sounded wonderful...a place that I'd love to visit. The inhabitants...not so much. Sydney's 9-year old son didn't sound or act like a normal 9-year old. Of course, what is normal for a 9-year old? The ending was quick and syrupy and, not all that believable to me. I feel that I wasted my time on this one, but I won't be reading any more of the series. This author's writing style just isn't for me.
