How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsFor ANYONE who has a toddler in their life!

If your house and experience is anything like ours, this book will not only reflect what you’re going through, it will also prepare you for what’s to come, and advise you on those moments you don’t quite know how to handle. I love the humor and personality in this book. Great way to feel like we might not be the first to experience a toddler!!

3.0 out of 5 starsDisappointing after the first two books in the series
Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2021
I loved Adrian Kulp's first two books in this series for pregnancy and baby's first year. These two were very well written and gave month-by-month descriptions of what to expect, which was really informative for a first-time father like myself. Unfortunately, this third book on toddlers fell way short of my expectations. The overall flow of the book is off; a bunch of different topics thrown together in no particular order, and distinguishing very little between a young toddler and an older toddler. Without the structure of the month-by-month (or any timeline), I didn't know what advice was applicable to my toddler at a given age. The parenting advice and anecdotes in each section also didn't feel super practical. Maybe this was all hinting at the chaos that is toddlerhood? In any case, I struggled to finish this book, and will be looking around for other toddler books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Memoir of a blogger, NOT a guide to raising toddlers

It’s my fault, I probably should have looked more closely at the guy’s credentials when purchasing this book. I appreciate the ease of the layout and simplicity of reading it, however it’s basically like getting parenting advice from some random dude in a Facebook group. None of it is rooted in anything evidence based or science backed, and some of the advice is just plain unsafe (co-sleeping!). Too late for me return it unfortunately, since you know finding the downtime to read with a baby/toddler is difficult.
If you are looking for good, professionally based help with toddlers, I suggest looking into the social media accounts for “Feeding Littles” and “Big Little Feelings”. There’s also the books “The Whole-Brain Child” and “No-Drama Discipline”.

4.0 out of 5 stars Toddlers are a tricky age
Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2020
I’m in the middle of raising my third toddler so I came into this book with some experience. Overall I would recommend the book but I would also caution that this is one family’s experience with their children and to take everything you read with a grain of salt. I feel like some first time parents might take everything they read in a parenting book as “this must be the right way” and only with experience do you learn how to read others advice and then decide whether or not to apply it to your parenting style. With that said I liked most of the book. One thing I didn’t like was the sleeping section. I do feel that cosleeping was not right for my family so I would also recommend a sleep training book in addition to this book. I agree with another reviewer‘s opinion about the potty training section, I will specifically mention that I have never used pull-ups on my kids and don’t agree with the authors use of them but to each their own. I also kind of cringed a little in the feeding section when the author mentioned using cookie cutters to cut up fruit and vegetables to entice the toddler to eat them and try them. I don’t have time for that, just try the regular way and they’ll get used to them.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not my style
Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2020
I’d say this book is good in the sense that it provides anecdotes and suggestions in a casual and friend-like way. This would be a great book for someone who doesn’t have a lot of friends going through the same stage of life as it gives that type of assurance on behaviors that are normal and things you might want to try in response to certain behaviors.

In the same way, it doesn’t read like a resource. I don’t think I’m going to come back to this book when I see a problem behavior.

Overall, it was a good read, but I am more partial to data-driven parenting books.

I received a review copy from the publisher.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this book. It's a great reminder to RELAX and have fun parenting a toddler.
Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2020
The writing in this book is down to earth, funny and real. While reading, it's like talking to a real parent of a real toddler who has faced real everyday issues that have arisen. My main takeaway was to avoid the trap of perfection. Every kid is different and when it comes to toddlers, rules are meant to be broken when the child needs a break. I love that philosophy. It takes into account both the child and the parent. Parents can be really hard on themselves and as many great parents have said before, "you gotta laugh so you don't cry." This book turns that philosophy into practice. And by doing so, it also prompts parents to be more present and to relax a little - a key element to parenting toddlers. There are so many parenting books out there but this one reminds us to understand the child on their level while also giving us parents the leeway to make mistakes without fearing that we're forever ruining our children.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read for Parents of Toddlers!
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2020
This was a fun read. It's a beautiful and well-organized book that offered helpful tips on parenting a toddler. The book discusses the author's experience with everything from eating with toddlers and getting dressed/grooming to punishments. I didn't particularly love the section on sleeping, as I feel the author focused solely on families who co-sleep and neglected to address families who do not. I also wish there would have been some research-based information, more than solely the authors opinion. Overall, I thought this book was a good read.

Note: I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book is a hoot. Where was this when my kids were toddlers? The humor in it helps break up some serious tips for getting through the rough toddler years without pulling your hair out. It is great for new or inexperienced dads, but moms can appreciate the comedy in it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Help for a First-Time Parent
Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2020
Author Adrian Kulp provides a slew of suggestions regarding how to handle a challenging toddler and the milestones that happen during these years. I enjoyed reading about his experiences and stories about his four kids. I'm definitely keeping this to read again when my son is a little older! There are a lot of ideas for avoiding temper tantrums that will come in handy. Thanks, Adrian!

The publisher sent me a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cute book. Tons of information in this book. The information isn't just random tips and methods but felt very personal and would work in real life situations. Well written and highly recommend for any first time parent.
