Escapism at its finest

Alexis and Bria open book five with a little recruitment adventure that quickly gets out of hand. Kieran may be a Demigod but he does not officially rule San Francisco yet and in order to make it out of the summit in one piece, they need powerful allies.
More like magical misfits, as it were, magical Beings everybody wants but aren’t powerful enough to control. Which is where Alexis comes in as this happens to be her specialty being the Queen of Misfits herself. She doesn’t want to control anyone she just wants help. Honest.
With fresh and snarky dialogue and unique characters not seen in other books of this genre, this author manages to keep everything flowing at a steady, funny, nail biting pace through this new installment [and all of her books]. Even with characters who have the same abilities in her books there’s still enough singularity in their own skill set to distinguish their identities within the group and make them a much needed part of the team. The author’s introduction to new characters and abilities are done seamlessly as usual and the most surprising part of the book for me was Daisy and her interaction with a member of this growing family. It showed surprising growth and depth of emotion on her part and I look forward to seeing where she ends up. She’s quickly becoming one of my favorite little whackadoodles.
These books may never end up on some snooty professor’s creative writing curriculum, more’s the pity, but I’ll still read it as this is one of the best examples of creative writing I’ve ever found and I hope it never stops.
