Weird color cast vignette on image
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2020
First off, I have their security cameras. They have served me well and would recommend them.
I was looking for a cheap webcam to use for my son so he can video chat with his cousins during the pandemic. I've always used Logitech webcams. My c920 in the office was great. However, the shortage of webcams caused crazy price gouging, so I was looking for something in the $50 range or less. Look and build quality of this webcam is decent. At first, the picture looked okay. However, the more I look at the video, there's a weird vignette around the edges that has a slight green tint to it. I confirmed it by shooting a white piece of paper. I'll try to upload a photo of it. You need to be right dead center of the frame or else half your skin will look weird. I saw another review searching on Google that has a similar experience. The audio is very tinny sounding, not surprising for webcams. If it weren't for that green cast on the edges, this would be a good enough to use. I'm undecided if I should return it and roll the dice on another cheap webcam.
EDIT: added a screen shot of the webcam video. You can see the green tint on the edge and a little bit of the bottom of the image. It's not the room lighting causing this either. This is supposed to be a large white envelope taken in my living room with lots of window lighting.
