Really fun. An inventive new series.

I’m a big fan of Michael Anderle and his writing. He took a genre, the vampire/were genre, and completely reimagined it with “The Kurtherian Gambit” series. The James Brownstone series away also a great series, full of fun, ass kicking, and BBQ. So it should come as no surprise his new series with Taylor McFadden would be very good. I won’t go too much into the backstory here, but earth has seen an invasion of the biological sort, “The Zoo”, which is altering the DNA of earth creatures with that of alien DNA, hence the Cryptids. McFadden is hired to work with a group of FBI agents to find these outbreaks of human consuming alien biologics and putting them down. This has required the development of mechanized exoskeletons that allow humans to be more, shall we say, competitive, against the aliens organisms. Mix in a surly FBI female handler, and other characters, and you have the start of a promising new series. I really enjoyed it.

I gave up a third of the way into the book. Book is fine actually, nothing special but good enough. Even though it is too expensive considering the quality. I have gave up because I realised I simply didn't like these kind of books, I find them boring really. So if you like these kind of books, you will probably like these as an easy read.

If you haven't heard about Michael Anderle's work yet, then where have you been!? Not only is he the go to guy for great sci-fi fiction, but you will never be disappointed with his work. They goes for this book as well, we return to the zoo to meet a old character that's decided to get out, but not all the way. He still kills monsters, after learning that there are afew loose on his home turf and he does a thorough job of it!

I really enjoyed this book exactly as I expected to. Michael Anderle is a favorite author of mine and I really enjoyed the premise of Cryptid Assasin...a long term survivor of the Zoo leaves the military and starts his own business - and then ends up killing Zoo monsters as well. Enjoyable characters and non stop action. Off to purchase book 2 in this series! Please keep up the good work!

Let me say it again. This book was fun. The juxtaposition of the syfy and the day to day problems took a little getting used to. Character development was a little light but I'm looking forward to that in the following books. I enjoyed it immensely and am looking forward to reading them all.
