5.0 out of 5 starsTen great things you know you can always count on in a Detective Josie Quinn novel!
Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2020
Um… wow! Where to start... where to start. Okay… let’s start with the 10 great things you know you can always count on in a Detective Josie Quinn novel: (and, yes, I’m going to try this without spoiling anything)
1. Lisa Regan’s writing is superb
2. Your heart will race, jump, sink and cry more than once while reading
3. Noah is mouthwatering… and very sweet (you have to love him for the way he loves Josie)
4. Gretchen is cool
5. Working in the same town you grew up in has its advantages and disadvantages
6. Josie can function on little to no sleep
7. Josie is a badass and so is her grandma
8. Josie finds all the danger
9. Josie saves the day and gets the bad guy every.damn.time.
10. You will want to turn back to page one and start again once you’re finished

I think this one might be my favorite. I always say this when I finish one of these books, but I think it might be more true this time. Save Her Soul is so raw and so emotional. At one point, I had to stop reading because I couldn’t see the words through my tears. Josie is like an old friend to me now, everything that affects her, affects me—and damn—did it affect me this time. I’m torn between wanting Josie to start therapy and not wanting her to start therapy. If she solves all of her emotional problems, what will Lisa have to write about? But at the same time, I want to see her work through all those problems. Thankfully, there are more books to come!
Save her Soul is absolutely superb. Knowing that Lisa Regan wrote this during a pandemic makes me love it more. It couldn’t have been easy, especially with the emotions involved. I feel like Lisa really poured her heart into this book, and it shows. In this one, we see Josie as an insecure young woman, but we also see the growth and wisdom of an old soul. Watching her fight to overcome her past, forgive a bully who tortured her in high school, and show some good solid empathy and compassion for that same bully was awe-inspiring. Seeing her grip so tightly to the few remarkable and beautiful people who supported her in her youth, and then feeling the letdown or the loss of them when new things come to light…ugh! And I can’t share it because I’ll spoil the book for you. Just know, it’s THAT GOOD. Everything about this book is so freaking good.
Save Her Soul is an awe-inspiring, extraordinary read that will make you feel angry one minute and heartbroken the next. It has all the feels AND all the action you could possibly want in a summer read!

3.0 out of 5 starsNot a stand-alone. Multiple characters, events, situations from prior books.
Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2020
Detective Josie Quinn, with help from her colleagues, must solve a cold case murder—after she finds the mummified body of a high school classmate, who vanished in 2004. Beverley Urban supposedly left town with her mother, who skipped out on her many debts. Beverly has been dead all this time, so where is her mother?

The murder storyline is a decent read, with a shoal of red herrings, plus clues and hints about the murderer. However, this is not one of Lisa Regan’s stronger entries in the Josie Quinn series. There are too many side stories which feature a multitude of characters from earlier books. I read the last three books, but I had problems remembering tertiary characters—in addition to a bevy of newly introduced characters. To further slow my reading, there are continuing storylines and references to past events.

Warning: There are flashbacks to 2004 when Josie was in high school—detailing Josie Quinn’s memories, her relationship with the murder victim, and her love for Ray, her late husband. If flashbacks aren’t enough, there’s a coterie of wealthy, older women who reminisce (too much, IMHO) about their rather unsavory heydays. The often intimate, personal interludes add drama (and melodrama) to the domestic subplots.

2.5 stars bumped to 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Josie Quinn Adventure

Lisa Regan delivery’s another well written story about our Favorite Character, Josie Quinn. Seems Global Warming has come to Denton, PA. Section after section of their town is being flooded. They are working with water rescue and seconds after getting an elderly woman into the boat her house washes off it’s foundation. As the house floats away an object wrapped in a blue tarp rises to the surface. This is the beginning of Josie Quinn’s newest investigation into a murder that happened while she was still in High School. She learns that the person inside the tarp is an arch enemy from her HS days, Beverly, and she is wearing Ray’s letterman jacket. While finding clues to solve the murder she is also experiencing some very un-Josie like behavior. To add to her discomfort she learns that she may not be Lisette’s only grandchild, this further shakes her sense of self. However during the investigation she finds an odd sense of peace while speaking with a woman named Paige. I hope that Paige will make more appearances in the next Josie Quinn adventure. So while we wait for Lisa Regan to work her magic on the next book we can imagine Josie and Noah and Trout enjoying each other’s company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool! A new character and more personal history

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Well, that's a cool new family character to introduce. Let's see how Josie handles that. Maybe she'll consider therapy... finally. LOL

Poor Ray is just always gonna be under suspicion, isn't he? Too bad he went from being a great friend to a real jerk in both his personal and professional life. Having a good reputation is worth gold, even after you're dead.

I'm happy for Lisette. She's had a lot to deal with over her life. It's wonderful that she has so many people to call her "family" now and watch out for her, in her old age.

I can't wait to see what happens with Denton's newest detective and the press liasion.

Maybe one day, someone will usurp Tara. She really doesn't deserve the breaks she's gotten about all her misdeeds.

One thing about the book's storyline ... the recovery from flooding was entirely too neat and quick. For example, Misty leaving so soon to go back to her house. Flood damage takes a lot of repair. Even if the homes weren't damaged, the roads and bridges were.

osie Quinn is back! Again, she's literally caught in a flood and rescuing a body that 's been dislodged from a home in the river. From that point on, she finds herself immersed in a cold case that has her stumped as far as who did what! Also, it's a great idea to begin with Book 1 in order to meet Josie Quinn and see why she's arrived at this point. Many of her demons are still in her, but now they are starting to resurface. It's a fast paced thriller, full of action and many characters.

Lisa Regan's character, Josie Quinn, is her best character and storyline. I haven't been disappointed and I look forward to a continuation of this series.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Josie Quinn's city is dealing without an historic flood. Many parts are accessible only by boat. Houses are being carried away by rushing water. And when one house is ripped from its foundation, guess what floats to the surface. You guessed it. A body. Once the body's is autopsied and identified it opens a painful window on Josie's past. Why is the corpse wrapped in a jacket that belonged to her dead husband, Ray? Where is the mother of the dead person. And if that isn't enough to deal with, Josie's beloved grandmother, lisette, drops a major bombshell that sends her into a tailspin. This story will intrigue and pull you along page after page. Great plot, great characters, great entertainment.

I can't say enough about this series.
Denton, Pennsylvania is being inundated with rain, which is causing flash flooding everywhere. Josie and Gretchen are called to the rescue of an elderly lady who couldn't evacuate in time. Her house is washed away in the flood waters and it unearths a blue tarp tied up. Josie believes there is a body in that tarp and she risks her life to retrieve it. The body is that of a girl that Josie went to high school with, who appears to have been killed 16 years ago. Josie and her team investigate to find the killer.
This book is action packed. I would definitely recommend this series of you haven't picked it up already.

I really like this series, and the main characters are great. This book is a terrific addition to the series. Since I live in the Houston, Texas, area and am very familiar with flooding, this part of the story was so interesting. The body of a young girl surfaced after the collapse of a home, and thus began Josie’s search for a murderer. Since I don’t like the mayor of this town, I was hoping she would be the one who killed the teenager. There are interesting twists and turns in this story...so glad I read it.

Josie Quinn has to be my favorite crime fighter. A murder mystery from the past has all the suspense that kept me reading through the night. Couldn't put this one down. Best to read the previous Josie Quinn mysteries to understand the history of this character. Just when you think you have all the answers, Lisa Regan pushes the narration in a new direction. Highly recommend this series.

Another great Josie Quinn book from Lisa Regan. It was the perfect blend of Josie coming to terms with her personal life, both past and present, and solving the case. I enjoyed the inclusion of history with Ray in this book, given his influence on who Josie is today. And I love Josie and Noah as a couple. All of the characters are relatable and well-rounded. Looking forward to book 10!
