Story weakening, Possible end of series
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2020
This may be the end of the series for me. The first few books had great characters and plots, with lots of interaction with the characters. And I read the books quickly and with relish, but the quality of the stories is declining. Most of the character development is gone, or flat, side characters no longer have the same depth they did before, the interaction to the main character being the sole purpose for their existence. The plot is becoming more and more unrealistic. Maybe it is the goal to fit it in with the larger universe, maybe it is just a rush to get to the target end.
Proofreading and editing appear to have been an afterthought. Wrong words, unfinished sentences, random phrases, sentences that just make no sense appear on almost every page. Enough so that it is becoming an obstacle to reading the book.
While I appreciate the author is providing us stories regularly, I'd rather have them a bit slower, more thought out, and proofed and edited.
Unsure if I will be getting book 6. I hate to drop a series before completion, but if the quality is like book 5, dropping the series may be a more rewarding option.
