5.0 out of 5 starsA Conspiracy Thriller That's Fun and Exciting!

This is a book about a guy named Wes McCall. He has no super powers, he has no important job, he just wants to spend more time with his daughter. In that respect, he is just like you and me. The difference is, his perfectly normal desire threatens to bring down the United States government and trigger an alien invasion.
This is why Father's Son is such a great book.
It will take you a while to meet Wes McCall: there are a lot of players in this story. But he is worth the wait.
In the past year, the author has moved from his early farces to stories that evoke the best kind of old-school storytelling. These stories take place in other realities, but they are grounded in real human truths and real human desires. Your typical thriller protagonist either gets ground up by an inexorable system (think Altered Carbon) or pulls off an impossible revolution (think Running Man) Wes McCall doesn't care about the inexorable system, he just wants his daughter. In creating McCall, Piatt has not only given us a story that is in turns scary, exciting, and fun, but he has also shown us the way to true happiness. In the end, time with our family is something to which every one of us can aspire, and nothing in the world is more important: not even the impossible revolution. You will laugh, you will sweat, you will cheer, and you will enjoy this book.
