Great "How-to" for writing and promoting a book
Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2020
I love this book! In fact, I like it so much that I think it will be my new best friend for the next several months. There are a lot of books “out there” that pretend to discuss how to get started promoting your book, your business, or whatever it is that you want people to see or hear. The title, Bestselling Author, shows clearly that it is targeted toward people who want to sell books. But really, it could be used by any entrepreneur that is struggling with advertising or reaching out to an audience.
It starts out a little slow, discussing “establishing your platform.” The one thing I really wanted that wasn’t super clear from the beginning was what was this “platform.” The answer is more like a political platform – the things you believe in and want to say – rather than the boards you might stand on or the publishing program, podcast broadcaster or social media you want to use. Those things, and more, all play a part in establishing your platform.
The part that has me in raptures over this book is that they don’t just talk theory. They give you nuts and bolts, useful links, ideas about how to use various tools. Not only that, they give suggestions as to when, why and how to use these nifty things. Some of it might sound a little crazy, but none of it is too hard or too “out there” to implement, even by garret-dwelling starving artists. Nor do the authors promise instant success, they simply lay out the mechanics.
