Unexpectedly diverse collection of stories, and each and everyone had a good story / moral to tell. I'd recommend this book for quick bites between work days or waiting at a car wash. It's fun and you should try.

So... I started this thinking "It'll include Salvage System and Harmon! YAY!" .... right? WRONG!

I was a fan of every book up til now... and now... I can't bring myself to continue reading beyond here... Yeah, I should've expected it, having The Salvage Title universe turn Anthology, but... it's NOT Kevin's writing... and maybe that's what kills me on this... Scales of Justice, book 2 of this series was acceptable, because it was a full book, not short stories. It included the action I expected of the universe, and... this Anthology book of short stories... did not. Don't get me wrong, each story is pretty well written, but it doesn't have that... Salvage Title universe FEEL that KEVIN gives!

This is a great collection of mostly short stories set in and around the Salvage Universe, some 15 in all. They range from "ah-ha, that's what happened!" kind of stories to cheesy to (sometimes) sad. Generally speaking the Salvage Universe is very optimistic and forward looking though, and in this it hearkens back a bit to the older space operas from the 1930s and 1940s (which is a Good Thing IMO).

Recommended and for the most part it's very much a standalone book, though things will make a bit more sense if you're at least up on the first couple of books in the trilogy, so you understand what's happening and why.

Through the Gate has plenty of what Salvage System lovers love: stories that continue a tradition of finding zany, cool and brash characters out in the galaxy winning battles and having fun with a little bit of requisite danger, blood and mayhem.
From the blood and fire of Cullen’s last kiss to one about an alien spy who actually finds the space crew he didn’t know he was looking for, you won’t be disappointed.There are many references to 20th century rock and roll plus plenty of fun movie references to keep you happy and connected! Loved it!
This read was fun all the way through. Kudos to Chris Kennedy Publishing for another great collection.

A little something for everyone. This universe continues to grow and show how rich and diverse that it really is. I have to congratulate the authors for their stories and how well written and enjoyable to read they were. Kudos to the original creator/author on his story and his and his publisher assembling all of these talented authors to participate and contribute to this anthology. An excellent creation and addition to any reader's personal collection.

First all the short-stories/Novella were solid and well written. Still had a story on the Serpentist. I cannot suspend my sense of disbelief to the point of a high-tech civilization developed by a race of giant snakes ***with NO hands, tentacle , cilia or even ESP to manipulate anything *** not even creatures to take the place of hands, etc.

I enjoyed each story and the authors . One of these days I'm going to have to list story, author etc. I believe my time and money is well spent.

I was lucky enough to be an early reader on yet another great collection of scifi from CKP. "Through the Gates" is an exciting and riveting romp through the Salvage universe. I laughed, more than a few times, and probably gasped just as many. Well worth the time and price.
