How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Finally! An author who can write a good story without having to spread it out into a multi-book deal!

The story was good. The characters well drawn though I would have liked a bit more background information about them.

I did notice a couple of hiccups. Near the end a character was sneaking close to the house in which the antagonists were staying and overhearing their conversation. In the next paragraph she was in hot pursuit of them on the other side of town, she in her cop car them in their van.

In another scene a character who had disappeared early in the book was suddenly standing around a grave with others. But the others didn't actually find her until AFTER the grave scene.

Despite these glitches the story told is good. I liked the premise and the way in which the author laid it out. Character interaction played well and the "good guys" were interesting.

Next time you see a big pothole you might ought to think twice!

So in a small, isolated town in Arizona, it starts raining after a very long time, and a sinkhole suddenly opens up, and weird demon things pop out of it and start killing/disappearing the townspeople in brutal ways. There are only a handful of survivors--a couple of cops and kids--who have to figure out why the demons arrived and how to send them back before it's too late!

Eh...big eh from me. This story is okay, but nothing special. Characters...okay, but nothing especially unexpected. The writing is good enough, and there are some scares, but the plot and the story behind the monsters? Big eh. The way it was laid out was just exposition dumps and flashbacks rather than any interesting use of the narrative itself. And the way the monsters were actually defeated (I don't wanna spoil too much, but it was a "power of innocence/goodness" type thing) struck me as kind of smarmy and saccharine. But, whatever. Not the worst thing I've ever bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Started With a Sinkhole

Having read all of Christopher Coleman's novels, I can honestly say that this is the absolute best work he has done! They Came With the Snow was terrifyingly wonderful but They Came With the Rain is even better. If you want a horror story that could actually happen, then this is for you.

Garmella, Az is a small mountain town. It's normally a quiet town, and it's about to get much quieter. All it takes is what appears to be a very large sinkhole and a few hours of rain after months of drought. Suddenly, there are creatures of shadow and a lot less citizens. Who will prevail, humans or shadows? Loved it!

I liked this book,I wouldn't call it horror thou,it was more like a Twilight Zone story .Which is good, some grammar, edit, spelling errors, but the plot and characters where interesting, would have liked to have known more about the creatures.

Looks like Christopher did it again! This is what horror novels are made of. Sure enjoyed it from start to finish. Scary enough to be up there with the best! Thanks Chris for the good horror story, loved it.

If you're a fan of horror fiction like I am, you know you have to kiss a lot of mutant frogs before you find a prince. Coleman serves a sturdy plot, engaging characters, and - big bonus - original & credible baddies. It also helps that he actually knows how to write well. I'll be picking up more of his work. (Just one distraction: Interstate 91 is in New England and doesn't cut through Arizona.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent sci-fi fare
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2020

First time reading Christopher Coleman and this was a decent read. Its a little too tame to classify it as a horror novel and for me it falls firmly into the sci-fi genre. As usual with these kinds of books, it needs some editing help from time to time, but nothing I can't get past. The story had some potential, and reminded me of a Dean Koontz book called Phantoms I read many years ago (that was much better and well worth checking out BTW) that had a similar premise of mass disappearances. Characters were serviceable, but not really interesting enough to make any solid connection with them. Didn't care for the language, so that dropped my rating a little

Anyway, this wasn't a bad effort, and its enough for me to try another from this author at least

I enjoyed this book. It show that we don't always know how or why things happen. Mr. Column weaves a fine story. Happy Reading!

Good story even if the plot line was a bit predictable. Innocence and purity are the all important characteristics and is sometimes very hard to find.
