4.0 out of 5 starsAlmost returned because of zapping/static electricity shocks
Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2021
I wanted this vacuum so badly, and was so disappointed when I finally got it because of the static elasticity shocks when using on carpeting. The metal grounding plate is way too small, and it turns out that my hand was coming ever so slightly off of it when I was vacuuming, so I was getting shocked all the time. It was awful and I almost returned it.

BUT, then I switched the way I hold the handle, my wrist placement, so the flat part of my middle finger was on constant contact with the grounding plate (not the side of my finger like before, which caused disconnection issues), & the problem is completely solved.l! Love this vacuum.

1.0 out of 5 starsVacuum with a good idea, but one MAJOR flaw
Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2020
I'll start off by saying I was really, REALLY looking forward to this vacuum. I watched multiple video reviews about this vacuum and the "DouClean" tech, and I thought it seemed simply amazing, genius even, and figured it would be the best vacuum in the world. However, I quickly found there was one MAJOR flaw with this vacuum that completely ruins the whole thing: static shock.

The static electricity buildup in the vacuum is immensely amplified due to the soft roller in the DouClean tech and there is no proper dispersion of this static electricity, leaving your hand to get shocked every few seconds when using it. The shocks seem to get stronger and stronger as well and by the 4th or 5th time this happened to me in a row, after just a few minutes of vacuuming, I was genuinely scared to use it any longer. My girlfriend wouldn't even touch the thing after getting shocked just once.

So I stopped for a while, tried to charge it hoping that would ground it or something and get rid of the problem, but after multiple tries I just could not get the thing to stop shocking me. There is a tiny metal plate in the handle as well which is supposed to help with the static dispersion by keeping you grounded, but the thing is a complete joke. The plate is so tiny that 2 fingers will barely even fit on it at the same time and it is so flush with the handle that you have to hold it with a strong grip just to keep your fingers on it, making it almost stressful to vacuum knowing that as soon as you lift a finger you'll get shocked. Then even when your fingers are on the plate firmly, it will still shock you from time to time! If the plate was like three times as long, twice as wide, and protruded from the handle like a fourth of an inch or so, it might not have been completely useless.

I see this flaw as a MAJOR oversight, which could even end up causing a health problem for someone. The shocks hurt after just a few times, and they make using the vacuum incredibly uncomfortable and stressful. Like I said, I was really looking forward to this vacuum, and the DouClean tech and hair wrap removal fins did really seem to work wonderfully, but I just don't want to be in fear of getting shocked constantly while using this. I was incredibly disappointed and sad this had such a major flaw. If they ever make a new model or a change that fixes this issue, I would definitely try it again. But until then, I cannot recommend this vacuum to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is It Wrong to Love A Vacuum?
Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2021

I bought this bad boy a couple of months ago, and have been waiting to write the review until I've used it a while. Over the years I've used a lot of vaccums. I've always had large dogs, hate dog hair, and vacuum a few times a week - so always in pursuit of the best vacuum that's easy to use. Well, I've found it! Shark is my fave brand anyway - I own 2 of the large numbers for deep cleaning (1 upstairs, 1 downstairs). And I've had one of the early cordless models for easy pick ups & dog hair. NOW, I only need 1 - my new cordless Shark.

It folds down and stores more easily than any other I've owned. It is lightweight, and the swivel head w/light is highly maneuverable in and around furniture legs, and even under furniture. It picks up anything in its path and moves easily between hardwood, tile and carpet. The battery pack is easy to set on a shelf, keep plugged in, and reattach when needed. I like this much better than the large cradle style that sat on the floor for recharging. I see some folks have mentioned noisiness - well, it's less noisy than any vac I've ever owned but you do know the vac is running (not much diff than a heavy duty hair dryer).

My main living area is about 1600 SF. I can deep clean all the floors (carpet, hardwood, tile) quite well with a single battery charge, and I vacuum several x each week due to the above mentioned dogs. The whole house is 2500 SF and I can hit all the main areas on a single charge.

The settings are easy to shift, and I like the booster setting for extra suction when needed. It performs very well on carpet. And attachments go on and off easily for getting into the crevices. I've not even bothered to used my big Sharks since I purchased this cordless. The top detaches easily for a hand held vac, which I've used in my car and it works quite well.I got the upgraded model (the blue/gray one) because I wanted more attachments. Not sure it was worth it, but it was only a few dollars more, so, meh.

I know a lot of ppl like their Dysons and other upper priced brands. But I can't imagine they perform any better, and the Shark is reasonably priced. A truly great product - thanks, Shark!!

I have two other shark vacuums, one cordless and one corded. I purchased them not that long ago. I ordered the Vertex because of the no hair wrap brush roll. Too bad they didn't think of that sooner! :=( I tried to order an extra battery and a mini motorized brush but they don't have them in stock. I was a little disappointed. They say the battery lasts 60 minutes. Using the power boost doesn't last long at all. Even with my other cordless, I have an extra battery. I like the fact you can wash the dirt container. You can also wash the filters with plain water. Let dry for 24 hours. It does have a squeal that my other shark doesn't have. But I can accept that because it is a powerful vacuum.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Man With Premium Boots
Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2022
Color: BlackStyle: 120 MinutesConfiguration: Vertex Pro + IQ DisplayVerified Purchase
Have you ever heard that anecdotal story about the man who couldn’t afford to buy the most expensive, longer-lasting boots so he had to repeatedly buy the cheaper boots? I come from a family where that is exactly what was done. We buy the $100 vacuum cleaner, have to replace it every year, and after 3-4 years of this, we could have bought a decent vacuum.

So, I have to preface this with I am coming from owning a Dyson v8 that was a hand-me-down from my ex future mother-in-law. It was on its last leg when she so graciously gifted it to me, even moreso 5 years later. It finally died and rather than spend the $300-$400 on replacement parts and repair, I decided to treat myself. I just bought a house, I deserve a brand new vacuum to go with it.

I have a 6 year old son, a 5 year old Saint Bernard, and 2 ambiguously aged felines. I needed suction, I needed power, but I also hate cords and different heads swapped out for different floor types. That’s what annoyed me with the Dyson the most. Not to mention the battery died after 10 minutes. So I stumbled upon this Shark with the display and I got the two batteries because I have a 2-story home built in 1907 with narrow, L-shaped stairs and full carpet upstairs with full, original hardwoods downstairs. Let me tell you: 1400 sq ft livable space with 50/50 carpets & hardwood, even on the full power, doesn’t run through a whole 60 minute battery. But I’m glad I got the two so I suggest you do the same.

As far as suction: wow. The carpets upstairs .. I vacuum them weekly and I vacuum the hardwoods downstairs daily. After vacuuming with this vacuum, it was as if I had never vacuumed anywhere in this house since I bought it 3 months ago. It sucks up every fine, coarse, short, long, human, or animal hair that exists and NO not one wraps around the dual fin things that they advertise. On high power, I can vacuum the entire upstairs and still have battery left. Chef’s kiss. 10/10 on power/suction/fins or whatever.

As far as the electric shock - I took a photo of the change they must’ve made to this new model - a little metal piece on the handle to ground you. I’ve been using this vacuum for a month on high power, medium pile carpet, and not once felt a shock. My 6 year old vacuums regularly and even with his tiny hands, can maneuver it and not be shocked. 10/10 no shock, except at what comes out of the dust bin.

Overall, from a single mom with a hairy house, I’m grateful I took the leap and spent the $400 on this vacuum. It was well worth it. I have a feeling it will be durable and long-lasting as well, but I can always come back in 10 years as long as I and my vacuum survive any pending nuclear war or zombie apocalypse (which I have no doubt we will as I intend on using my vacuum as a weapon in that instance). Oh and I also used the different attachments to clean my car and the thing sucked up at least a large sized McDonald’s French fry which has been petrified and fossilized on they floor of my Nissan, thanks again to my 6 year old. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing Ive purchased in a long time!

Wow! Just wow. This is everything you want in a vacuum - great suction, easy to use, two batteries that ladt a really long time, folds for storage, easy to empty....

I find myself doing a lot more frequent quick cleans of area rugs and hardwood floors since I purchased this vacuum. It's so easy to use and convenient so it doesn't feel like I have to set aside time to clean the floors. I just grab it and do 5 minutes here and there. Its pretty strange to get excited about a vacuum but I seriously love this thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than V11
Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2020
Color: BlueStyle: 60 MinutesConfiguration: VertexVerified Purchase
I was worried that the Shark Vertex would be too narrow & not strong enough. I previously purchased a Dyson V11, which claims to be stronger but it was not able to run the beater on my carpets. The V11 did have a wider head, however, since it wouldn't spin on ordinary carpet, I returned it.

I just received the Shark today, vacuumed the entire house & I'm very impressed.
The Shark IZ462H worked well on tile, rugs, and yes, all of my carpeted areas. The Shark has a narrower head, therefore able to reach most areas & the tilt helps get under the furniture.

My old V8 would only vacuum half of the house, but, now I can do the entire house on one charge.
The only issue is that it jams with the really fluffy mats in the guest bath, but everything else worked better than expected.
Only used one day, and I'm very happy.

I have been through three cordless stick vacuums in the last four months, trying to save a buck. They were all crap in spite of their 4.5 star reviews. I finally said what the heck and decided to bite the bullet and buy this Shark model. I just vacuumed my Florida room and this vacuum is exactly what I wanted. I should have known since I have a Shark corded upright that I love. But with two cats and two litter boxes, getting out the upright two or three times a day, unwrapping the cord wrapping the cord, I wanted a cordless stick vacuum. Plenty of power, great brushes, compact storage. and useful tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really love this, especially how quiet it is...

Love this vacuum once I've gotten used to its top heavy construction (I'm new to these). A week after I bought this one, I saw a review for a similar Shark with the weight at the bottom. I certainly would have bought that one had it not been so much trouble to exchange. I've had to get used to a new method of bending down to move things out of the way since this thing is heavy at the top. I finally figured out how to move the handle more to the side to make it easier to bend down while holding onto it...sort of sliding my hand to a different position...you'll figure it out. Have not been shocked once, so I don't know what that's all about and my house is really dry. Most of all, I love the way the rollers pick up everything without much noise. It's pretty darn quiet, even in carpet mode. I'm really sensitive to noise, so I give it 2 thumbs up. My cats are no longer afraid of the noise, but they aren't nuts about the LED lights...which are good but have sort of a dead spot in the middle. They work pretty well, especially in the dark. Whoever created this thing put some real thought into making it simple and efficient. It's super easy to empty, to quick take the handheld part off and pop it right back on, to bend it down to store it, to release it to go under furniture, or to lean it against the wall if you take a short break. Good engineering. It is a learning curve remembering which button releases which function. It's easier to take up and down stairs if you pop off the handheld first, and it's pretty lightweight. I'm 71, not a weightlifter, and it's no problem carrying it. I usually store it with the handheld off, so I can grab and use that. The other part stands on its own without the heavy part on top; otherwise, you just fold it down for nice, compact storage. The more I use it, the more I like it. Vacuumed my entire house up and down with one fully charged battery. I would only buy the version with 2 batteries, though. Since my last vacuum was an old, upright, cordless Hoover that sounded like a jet engine landing, I am thrilled with this Shark. I'd highly recommend it. I got it during a Black Friday event and am glad I did.

Almost perfect. pick up is great, power time is great...but it's a little heavy for me and the handle on the vacuum is not angled correctly, again, for me. I end up holding it on the top of the handle instead of the end, which (based on the look of the handle) appears to be what they expect. If I hold it that way it hurts my hand over time. A top hold is a little tight, but I have smaller hands so it works for me.
The power last long enough for my needs. I'll have to time it next time so I can provide specifics.
I LOVE that it can fold in half. It's easy to empty, although as expected, it gets a little dusty when emptying.
The pick up is fantastic. I use this on hardwood and area rugs and it's great on both. I have a particular problem that a couple other vacuums didn't work well on. It's a one inch space between two flat weave carpets on the kitchen floor. This vacuum picks up anything in that crevasse easily.
Two types of rollers makes it work on every surface. FYI, we don't have pets, so not sure how it works with excessive hair. Lots of power as a handheld with enough attachments included to do whatever you need. The power boost is perfect for those tough little whatevers that just don't seem to want to be vacuumed, but I rarely use it.
All in all a great vacuum for a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT cordless vacuum!
Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021

I like the cleaning power of this vacuum. Even on the low power for floors, it does a great job. The higher power for rugs is amazing considering the amount of dust and hair that ends up in the dust bin. It is very agile and easy to get under the sofa and beds. I LOVE having two batteries. One is always charged while the other one is in use. This vacuum is very good on battery power. I have used the handheld portion in the house and it is easy to use and works well to clean furniture and blinds. It appears that hair will be much easier to remove from the rollers than on previous models like this. I don't like the IQ Display in normal daylight - you can't see the display. It's great if you like to vacuum at night ... yeah, I do that sometimes. I'm not happy that I cannot find filters and batteries but hopeful that they will become available in the future. I still like it and I'm glad I bought it. It replaced my Shark Rotator which I had for years.
